But this time the reports concentrate on his religion.

That's the 351st this year in the US. But this one is different somehow because he's Muslim.

No wonder there are divisions in society if this is the way the public are being told to think.

351 mass shootings this year? Pretty much 1 per day? Wow. Surprised there's anyone left over there.

It depends on the definition used of a mass shooting, so like all good stats, you can manipulate them.

The standard definition is 4 or more people shot

The FBI say you need 4 or more deaths. On that basis the number comes down by quite a lot EDIT: but it's still around 70+

As you say, it's the media angle of approach and focus again...... But as in the film I watched that Monty posted, to get the public on board in this case, the American public, (we have the same shit here to) focus on patriotism and you will get people to do anything and go along with anything when it comes to going off bombing other people's countries.

AS bad and sad as these killings are, the powers love it as they use it to in force (in this case) a Muslim did it! Therefore when we what to go bomb someone, enforce and bend the rules on human rights the opposition is much less and focussed because people minds have already had the blank close and they don't know it.
