I like the ideology but I am a noise and smell kinda guy.. that's why I'm a sucker to a 2-smoker.

That said, if they can make it light enough and fast enough it would be an awesome bit of kit (probably costing an arm and a leg though!)

Don't electric bikes have a stupid amount of torque? Did I read that right, something about them pulling like a train from the off.

Yes they do.. their torque curve is digital (on/off)

and no gears just spins faster and faster ....

im guessing it weighs quite a bit as thats there down fall

The batteries are getting lighter and I suspect there's a pay off as there's no exhaust system or engine block.

Plus side is there is just battery, motor (with inbuilt gearing system to step up/down, cooling system which means a smaller bike is possible.

Downside is this stuff is still relatively early in development so is quite heavy and big. When they start to decrease in size comes the weight reduction and when they start to decrease the thermal radiation there will be more performance.

Electric car companies still don't know how long their batteries will last though which is why you own the car but not the battery, the battery is a rental service the last time I checked.

I still say the downside to electric vehicles is where will the electricity come from to power them?

We make only just enough for our needs now.

How is electricity made? With dirty coal, nuclear with waste that we don't control properly or inefficient "renewable" sources.

All of these produce massive greenhouse gases during the process and/or in the process of creating the equipment.

It's a double-edged sword that they don't understand. Personally I feel hydrogen is the way to go, it's only emission is water vapour. That'll stop the planning heating up by increasing moisture in the air - yay!

I really didn't like the idea of electric vehicle's but now I would be quite happy with owning one. When they look like this I wouldn't be complaining. Although the problem is I have heard they are might pricey so I won't be able to afford one! Unless prices go down I. stuck with good old fashioned petrol vehicles!

Most of the electricity is generated from fossil fuels so it's just moving the problem (if you see it as a problem) rather than solving it which seems pretty pointless imo.

Its easy to do if these things are done for the benefit of the greater good....but its always those with a vested interest in the status quo that keep things as they are.
