Took my first ride of the season up to Eccleshall and the roads around. My favourite local roads.

Also stopped up the local coffee shop and got very warm sitting in the sunshine. (sun) (sun)

Had to endure three stereotypical BMW GS riders ( beards, camouflage trousers and smoking roll ups) who spent the entire time moaning about the world in that Daily-Express-reader manner. Why waste the sunshine doing that? Wankers!

Then a yummy mummy and her 3 year old son stroll along. Son looks at the 4 bikes and she asked him which he liked best. Red Ducati wins :D :D

So much so that as i start up to ride away the yummy mummy, her yummy mummy mate and their two kids wave to me. :D

BMW wankers didn't get so much as a glance. 8)

Anyway great to be out on the bike in the sunshine on dry roads.

Got to take it in for the Brembo brake m/c recall tomorrow morning.

Took the multi for its first decent run of the year , met Frankie in Marlborough and had a full English :P
Had the heated vest and gloves on which were needed on the way there, warmed up quite a bit so didn't use them on the way back. Did some work on the RSV4 and the 999, then called it a day and had a lie down on the sofa :D

Had a ride on the new Multi 1260S whilst mine was being worked on.

Not 100% convinced on the engine. Has more low down torque but seemed to have less top end. Bike only had 59 miles on the clock though. 1260 has less vibes than mine.

Liked the autoblipper, bike was a touch more stable than mine but still turned quickly. Felt like it was sitting in the front a bit more.

Can’t see the point in a Quickshifter on a road bike.

Screen was a bit easier to read and navigate.

Didn’t particularly feel like I wished I was on the new one once I got back on mine. I’ll wait til the demo has more miles on it before I try it again.

Ditto, except I went off for a mental ride up to Avesbury, some very tasty back roads back to Marlborough, then home to wash the bike, took ages as I have not cleaned it for ages (blush)

As it was still light and dry nipped out after washing the bike for another mad 30 mins (giggle)

Not the best day with the rain but took the bike up the stealers for a recall.

Work was done quickly, enjoyed a coffee and chat and been offered a v4 demonstrator ride (lol)

I love quickshifters !!!, I was going to put one on the Multi but Rich at Lougi Moto said it would be a bad idea so ill have to live without one on the Multi.

Why did he suggest a bad idea ? Gearbox issues ?

Yep, he said fitting an aftermarket QS to a big twin like the multi will end up with a munched gearbox, so left it off.

Don't doubt his knowledge and I agree I would follow his advice as wouldn't want the risk but didn't Ducati stick one on the 1198sp as oem and that's basically the same egine and box?

1198SP and 1098R are renowned for gearbox issues.

I don't think its easy to ride at a pace on the road where a QS works properly. They need lots of revs to works smoothly from my experience.

Cheer Duke. I didn't know that. Hope the Panigale box is stronger then.

The1299 worked a dream yesterday. I only popped down the motorway so typically 5000 rpm before a gear change and the qs was silky smooth to be fair.

Probably partly me never having owned a bike with one fitted so not a lot of experience using one. I do like autoblipper though. They are a great asset to swift road riding.
