Not really. My nan was a pale skinned version. Before my vitiligo I used to tan very easily.

Although it's funny looking at the photos of my 4 aunts. The eldest is the darkest and very arab looking; arab nose, dark skin, black hair, brown eyes, long lashes. The arab gene gets watered down until you get to my mum, the youngest. She's pasty white.

Fwiw I find that an SDS drill with a flat blade works far better inside.: Less mess, more manageable pieces, less damage to attached & surrounding architecture etc etc....
(wait) Having said that, I'd still use a sledgehammer outside. Far more satisfying. (nod)

The village scarecrow trail starts today, so been for a walk round the village with the boy to see some of them.

Got back and have done a trial erection of the porch awning before we GI away next weekend. Much easier and quicker to put up than the full awning.

Been to take a look at this.

Always fancied one but never ridden one and just wanted to see what they are like ionce sat on it as reports vary from very uncomfortable to a perfect halfway house from a sportsbike.

They allow test rides with 24 hr notice so i might see if i can get up there over the next few days.

TBH its a 1098 and i would prefer an 848 as they are cheaper to run and easier to ride.

Looks like the two-wheeled version of a muscle car.

It's very nice, but those cans look dreadful.

Is the 848 much cheaper to run Duke????

Would the extra torque of the 1098 not suit the bike more than an 848?

Might be worth a test ride on both bikes (y)

I have it in my head that the 848 version came under new servicing intervals which the 1098 didn't. I may be wrong though.

Michael Neeves at MCN had an 848 as a long termer a few years back (the vids are on YouTube) and he reckoned it was the better bike too. He had both as long termers.

Yes I had seen that one Blade. It's the one that interests me most but I am waiting and waiting for a client to pay me some money on an extra job I did which is/was my biking fund so I cannot do anything at the moment.

Just checked it out.

Belt change is every two years or 15000 miles whichever is sooner on 1098SF or 5 years or 15000 miles on 848 version.

Belt change every two years isn't that attractive to me. 848 is a much better ownership prospect imo.
Besides it's not how much power you have but how you use it :)

Prefer the 848 to be honest.

Not discounted an air cooled Monster though.

I want to keep the Muti. Riding it back today it's an awesome motorcycle. Does most things brilliantly.

Im probably being blind, thick or both, but I can't see where it has the different belt interval in that link Duke.

Tbh if I had a belt drive Ducati for the cost I would change every 2 years. The consequence of failure don't justify saving a few quid in imo.

If there is a difference in belt interval of 3 years I would suggest it can only be a reinforced belt of a higher standard used on the 848 and if that's true it should be a retrofit on all models you would assume. Or certainly worth asking the question.

Have you had a test ride on both ? The power figures on paper might not tell the true story. The extra torque of the 1098 or the gearing or the fuel delivery could appeal to you more on one model than the other. Worth a test ride if possible to see which you prefer in real world riding conditions would be my suggestion.

Nothing to loose other than a few hours evelatuing 2 awesome bikes (lol)

Busy day. Picked up a couple of mates and we went over to Coventry for a Pokemon event. Spent 4 hours walking and generally catching up. It was good to see them both.

Got home just as my dad turned up, so spent some time with him.

Then gave the AT a quick wash and the Versys a good wash, degrease, wax and polish. While I had the bucket out I washed the Mazda as well.

In for dinner and now sat down with the family watching a film.

This is the servicing link I should have posted up. The 11 degree Testasretta engines have much longer belt service intervals. I guess the design is different somehow.
