I'm not worried about these idiots offing themselves one bit - in fact they'd be doing the human genome a favour , what worries me is the innocent bystanders they mow down with them. Selfish b*****ds every one.

I quite agree this should be at a strip or a racetrack, but these idiots will never go to a track or strip - the people already there know what they're doing and would make them look stupid, the whole point is that they want to look fast and daring, but actually come off as reckless twats, anyone remember the reception that muppet that drove onto Brands during a race got? He thought he was the Billy Bollocks at the time, but the rest of the world thought he was a t*sser, same with these clowns.

Selfish ignorant twunts, & filming on a hand held camera at the same time FFS.!!!
We should all be thankful that no one was hurt, so no harm done IMO. Still, if they're dumb enough to publicly post up the footage, then they deserve to have the book thrown at them.

Any dork can drive fast in a straight line, just hold your steering wheel & press your right foot. They should take this to a racetrack, where the first corner would probably see them driving like a granny.

When I was 17 I filmed myself doing 0-100mph and reaching a speed of 104mph before slowing down (under 8 seconds by the way on an SV650S). I was in a 30mph zone (admittedly it was a dual carriageway).

The Police pulled me over a few weeks later on my current bike to speak to me.

Because I was doing over 98mph they couldn't give me a fixed penalty notice and fine, it had to go to court. I was very fortunate that it got dropped and I never received a fine, points or anything worse.

I learned from that and now I make sure that I'm not filming when I go over 70mph !! ;)

Phew lucky.

Why did it get dropped?

Not enough evidence.. despite me admitting it was me.

Allegedly there was a seperate video showing the incident but I doubt that is true. Also, I never actually admitted to the offense other than I was riding the bike on that day. I never said I was riding in the video

I filmed myself doing 186 or so on my bike this year, but it was autobahn...not public roads.... idiots.

You get used to it....slow down for traffic pulling out, then pin it again. Becomes a bit boring after a while, rather do 50 mph on the twisties, its more exciting.

120 afterwards feels slow, one handed riding!

I'm sure most of us have done the top speed thing in cars and bikes but you don't film it unless it's legal frankly. Plus it's not the driver, it's the people around you who can't see you coming that are the problem.

Thaysb the problem I have with it too, it is so easy to underestimate how fast someone is coming up behind you. Very scary, you see them, look to the front and next minute they have pasted you in excess speed. But does stop me in believing we should up the speed on motorways to be more reflective of what people actually do and at least that way people would have more of a idea of speed

I think other road users have a right to expect other drivers or riders not to be breaking the speed limit by excessive amounts.

Absolutely. My issue is the speeder of course - it's the speeder who needs to appreciate the people on the road around you will not see a 190mph vehicle coming...

We have all no doubt done speeds that we shouldn't and being realistic it's no different to breaking any other driving law. Speed is addictive but the older I get the more I feel perhaps I shouldn't have done that after the event.
