BTW that isn't an engine cut in half, its a customers engine on a workbench at JHP.

Can someone confirm or just tell me I'm talking crap here but if you increase the bore you will need a bigger piston but if you increase stroke that isn't necessarily the case but would be likely.

Changing the Stroke would mean possibly changing the crank and con rod. Depends on the specifics but piston would be ok if no bore change and only stroke length altered.

Changing either will give you more or less cc, but each way will give you a different engine character. Long strokes tend to be more torquey but won't rev as high due to piston speed. Short strokes will give you more rpm and therefore more BHP for a given cc.

BTW the new 959 is apparently going back to side exhausts as they cannot get the current system to meet Euro 4 noise regs.
