Biking dilemma

These opportunities only ever seem come at the wrong time but hey ho.

Had pretty much made up my mind to go for a Panigale either late next year or even the year after depending on spec./finances.

However yesterday i was offered the opportunity to buy an 853 conversion engine, allegedly the best engine Ducati never made. A concep dreamt up so i believe by Neil Spalding at Sigma Performance. The engine has been built by a well known Ducati specialist and I am told it has titanium Pankl rods, Pistal pistons and a balanced and lightened crank, all bearings being new. I am emailing the builder just to verify the spec of the engine, it was only built earlier in the year and i have been offered it at a third of its cost (though its still not cheap and obviously will have to pay to have it fitted).

Also been told its been set up by CJS racing, I can have the ECU too and it put out 119 bhp on his dyno. CJS are the best Ducati tuners in the UK.

So what do i do? Buying the engine will put off buying a Panigale probably for at least another 6-9 months, i was planning to keep the 748 if i bought a Pani and i dont think that would change even if i bought the engine.

What a dilemma.

Obviously being a man into his bikes i want it all.

Are they sought after once converted?

It's not just about the money of course, so will you enjoy the 748 more?

Adding 6 to 9 months wait before getting a Panigale is nothing in the scheme of things.

I've had no email reply to my questions from the builder yet. If he doesn't reply I will let it go.

I think I'd go for the bike. But I'm not a ducati fanatic like yourself, and wouldn't appreciate knowing I had that engine. I'd rather have a new bike though

As a biker following the latest and greatest, you would have to say go for the pani...

BUT.......

Owning a bike like the 748 is not about the latest and greatest, it's about the passion and enjoyment. The same way I love the RSV, the same way blade loves the SP2. It only really matters to us.

If you can get the engine, I'd say go for it and get the pani later.

I'm a bit confused, is this just for an engine? What would it go in, apart from make a amazing tea table! I'd personally go for the full new bike but that's just me!
