If you look into the "dark web" i bet a lot of trading is done on there. Its totally anonymous and is used by many dodgy characters.

Imagine doing a track session in an NBC suit.

I imagine technology will have improved out of all relation.
However fwiw...
We were told that the suits were really all about creating a sense of reassurance for the hats. We only ever allowed for respirators, and the insinuation seemed quite clearly that they were intended to maintain our duration of effectiveness rather than save us from anything.
Different times though (hopefully).

Besides, if this Proxy War does develop, then I wouldn't expect silos would be much help, let alone a noddy suit.

Anyone read "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute.?

I don't know about trackdays but I did my NBC training in the middle of winter and they make a good portable sleeping bag :)

They use to make us do a run and then play rugby before going in the gas chamber.

The rugby tackles would loosen the suits seals as you got roughed up and the sweating would open your pores to allow the chemicals in easier.

Sick bastard those PTI's

You got suits for Gas Training? We only got masks. Same thing, got you all sweaty first (in fatigues) sat you in there while the gas was released and once they could see it was getting unbearable, one by one you had to front to the SGT remove your mask and try and get your full service/trade description out. From what I remember I got to "Air Force Cadet Paul..COUGH COUGH COUGH...drop. Then dragged out to the fresh air. Fond memories!

Yeah we did that too kiwi.

Don't mistake the suits for kindness. They were to make us hotter and more fatigued. Have you ever done a 6 mile speed March in fighting order with your rifle and NBC kit on. The only way you got out of it was fainting and head butting the tarmac mid run and I'm not kidding although I am glad to say I always managed to survive.

PT training was usually measured for intensity on the amount of people injured or throwing up. They almost wanted you to fail and I guess that's why they called it a beasting.

Re. Syria

No one can blame those little kiddies . They have done nothing to anyone. Get them all out if needs be. However when you look at the demographic of people wandering about there seems to be alot of very fit healthy young fellas amongst them.
The way I see it , no matter the odds those lads should be at home fighting whichever way they see fit to get their country in order. Cowards really . How many centuries of turmoil did these Isles suffer to give us the comfy life we now enjoy. The countries of that region need to undergo some kind of evolution

It doesn't seem that long ago that night after night we were shown images of vast crowds of Syrians burning the union jack . Those lads can all go f*ck themselves for all I care .

This is well worth a read. A British journalist looked at ISIS online propaganda for a month

The good thing about the Russians going in to deal with ISIS is their complete disregard for all codes and conventions of conflict. No prisoners, hostages get shot and they'll play ISIS at their own game. We can't do that for fear of the media outrage.

That's true the Russians have a reputation for not fooking around or sitting in the fence. The prefer to just get the job done which is exactly what is needed here. Good luck to then I say.

They've taken Georgia and The Crimea. Syria draws a nice line. This looks like the way modern Russia takes countries, knowing that no one is going to retaliate.

Cruise missiles now. Putin is bicep flexing "Look what I can do at the drop of a hat". It's going to end in tears.
