Russia had a go as well.

The 2018 world cup in Russia could prove to be very interesting if tensions continue.

Bombing a convoy of aid workers is never going to be a popular move, is it?

To be fair we started it when we carved up the middle east post colonially, along geographical lines that bared no relation to the actual peoples. What we have now is a western version of the middle east, not to say they didn't have problems before. We then spent years funding and arming different dictators and wars in which millions of people have died. For what? A hand full of people got very rich out of selling oil and weapons.

We owe these people, and if some get through that shouldn't then so be it IMHO.

To be fair "we've all been doing it" since we were swinging from the trees. Confrontation, acquisition & quest for control have been underlying human traits all through our development.
The society that we live in believes that those traits are wrong. The thinking of our society is at odds with many others around the world, & tribal or nonsecular are still prevalent in less developed areas.

Apparently the Syrians are not people anyway...only Skittles.

Do you get the feeling sometimes that the world is on the brink of destroying itself with idiots making statements like this?

US stats.

1 in 3,408 chance of choking to death on food
1 in 3,640,000,000 chance of being killed by a refugee in a terror attack

As much as it may be accurate to recite history, it does little to address the issues faced now. Borders will always be contentious. But sadly you have to have them.

The relief convoy was there to help those who needed it. Everyone knew it was there. Someone took the decision to bomb it. Those people need to be answer their crimes.

No maybe not, but we do need to accept our historic responsibility and do something about it. It's time our politicians stopped pandering to a small minority of xenophobic voters and actually addressed the refugee problem. It would cost dick all in the grand scheme of things.

I expect that the best you'll get are the hapless "trigger men".??
You need to look towards those who wish to continue the unrest, to see the actual culprits IMHO.

Always comes down to "three R's" in my opinion....Race, Religion & gReed. That's a stretch on words, but you get the point.

I hope.

Expect to see some tit for tat exchanges on the ground.

I see Russia has stopped flying over Turkey since Turkey downed one of their planes.

Can't see open contact happening but they do it surreptitiously.

Open conflict would send the economic world into meltdown like no other occasion ever.

But Russia is like China....they're a paper tiger. They have weapons, munitions, a large military, etc......but no realistic way to project their power effectively.....the ROC is ample proof enough of that insofar as the PRC is concerned.
If anything Russia is in an even worse state....or at the very least in the same (refugee) boat.

Frickin' losers!!

Russia is massively poor. There is a huge divide between the rich and the poor. A handful of people took control when the USSR fell apart. Putin is part of that group. Russia needs to be seen in the news flexing its might as it's good propaganda. The seizure of the Crimea is a prime example.

They have the manpower, the weapons and the inclination to start a war, but they can't sustain any attack. That's why the conflict in the Ukraine suits them, as it's all low key attrition stuff.

That's a great assessment. Couldn't agree more.

To be honest, I don't consider Russia to be anything other than a Third World Country wearing a halfway decent secondhand raincoat....
