The Big C ......

2015 is going to be a trial we weren't expecting
The Fun Adjuster has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer ;(

We've known for a good 6 weeks but the light at the end of the tunnel is its isolated and treatable.

We know shes not the first and unfortunately she wont be the last but with research and medical developments, we are at ease
The care and advice has been brilliant so far and credit to those who often get criticized within the NHS

First course of Chemo will be before the 14th of Jan and then another 2 to follow which will hopefully reduce the size of the cancer with another 3 doses and then they'll carry out a Lumpectomy if its reduced
If it doesnt reduce in size then itll be a full Mastectomy (sweat)

But shes positive knowing its isolated and knowing what procedures they need to carry out.

She also knows that moping around wont change anything and we are a strong family with caring relatives and close friends.

The hardest thing so far was telling the Spudlets but now theyve been reassured, they have accepted the procedure and (fingers crossed) the outcome

We're carrying on as usual as thats how we roll and treating it as a journey

So heres to next Christmas when hopefully all this will be over

So sorry for the diagnosis it is a terrible shock when it's first made.

In our situation it was harder for us to come to terms with it more than the patient if that makes sense. Thankfully the success rate is really good now and I'm pretty sure by this time next year you will be posting a positive outcome.

You seem to have a strong family unit around you which makes all the difference, but will send healing thoughts to you all xxx

Not to be rude Mark, but how are you guys set up for this.....you have private medical, NHS....both??

They do lots of 'Breast Cancer Awareness' drives here.....many food items are packaged with a pink tag to indicate a portion of the proceeds goes towards the fund.....the Little League kids get into the act.....even NFL teams, and all run round in bright pink socks (which personally I think looks rubbish).....but it's all to raise funds for BCA, so can't be all bad.

But if I go on any longer I think I'm going get into Duke's healthcare thread, which would not be appropriate.

No worries mate .... I have private through work but on this occasion she was referred by our GP and then through the NHS

They have been truly wonderful and I dont think we would have been treated any differently or quicker if we'd gone private
