The weekend end or two before Christmas for me. Then we do the 12 day thing.
It spoils it for me if they're up for too long. You lose the Christmas feel.

I used to put them up beginning of December for the kids , but this year I am moving on the 5th so can't see mine getting up much before 19th . Trouble is mine come down after boxing day as I can't stand it any longer.
It's a mental thing too that the winter is well under way and spring is just around the corner

Yeah, but it's different when you have little ones....Christmas is still an endearing fable to them.
By that same token, if they still believe in Santa at the age of ten, then that kid is probably due a clinical assessment, wear a bicycle helmet 24 hours a day, and eat all their meals with a spoon.

Well I've got solar panels going on the roof on the 3rd and fly out to work on the 9th so it'll be some time I between those two events. This will be only the second christmas I've put up lights, only cause the kids really wanted them, but I ensured they were all solar powered.
I really don't understand the contradiction of people that turn lights off for 'Earth Hour' but happily burn electricity for 6 weeks with christmas lights.

I had a funny little chat with my 11 year old daughter the other week about Santa. Her response was "when you think about it, he sounds like a bit of a paedo, coming into kids rooms and giving them presents if they pretend to be asleep"
That's my girl.
