I highsided at Donny on Thurs. It split the left rear set just behind the gear shift pivot. Just thought I'd share my repair which was possible courtesy of a good friend wiping out pretty badly and having no further need for his front brake lever...! I'm riding around the peaks on this for the next couple of days :-) (in the rain...grrr!)

There is very little gaffer tape and cable ties can't fix.

Hope your OK from the high side, I know from experience they dam hurt a little.

But when did you last lube your chain?

Chain is a gold tsubaki so firstly not rust! I lubed it on weds night before the track day but my hein gericke lube never looks wet. It's also been through the track equivalent of a dusty field during the highside and subsequent slide. My leathers used to be white and blue. Now they are a dusty shade of brown! The chain needs a bloody good clean along with the rest of the bike now but it was fine on weds. My arse is a bit bruised from doing a superman and landing on my arse on the side of the bike then surfing it as it slid down the track. Other than that I'm fine thank god!

As above, cable ties are a godsend, have repaired mine and others bikes at trackdays with gaffa taper and cable ties, nowt wrong with a temp repair as long as it's safe. Not seen a brake lever employed like that, but hey - any port in a storm.

P.S. This is how I learnt to carry spares to trackdays.

Its nut just the rust in the first pic it very much looks like you have a tight link, above the very left white cable tie. Links are not straight, chin look goosed to me.

The tight link is what i noticed.

Nice repair. I love cable ties, one of the world's best inventions.

I remember that, good bodging mate!

Was a bit of flex in it, I daren't put all my weight on it in case the cable ties snapped. Consequently had a stiff leg when I got back, but the main thing was, I got back.

Feck! You guys are right. I didn't notice that top left link. I was only looking at the ones on the right. I've popped out and had a look and it's deffo a tight link. I'll sort that later but yes good spot. Cheers

Ps. Went riding earlier in the peaks, the roads are fantastic! But my right leg now hurts as it is compensating for the lack of being able to put full weight on the left pweg. I'm either leaning off for right handers and getting weight onto the right peg or shifting my arse back and getting right leg lock to hold my weight from putting onto the left peg. Thank feck for stomp grip!... 5 hour twisty ride home tomorrow using the best that TomTom winding roads has to offer :-)))

Godzilla, so you're aware we're talking about Critch here, if any part on his bike is road legal its a miracle! You wont find a bigger abuser of bikes than Dan
