Started doing some work on it today.

What is clear is that the bike needs a full strip down, clean and rebuild. As it was my only bike for so long, all I've ever done is made sure it's been running. It's got 26,000 miles on the clock and there's a lot of crud in there. Some of the screws haven't been moved in years. I'm taking out some very dry bolts/screws.

Over the next few months I'll invest in some replacement stainless bolts and work around the bike replacing them. I can do some proper cleaning and maintenance at the same time.

Maybe have a word with Nutz as he has some one he swears by for giving the bike a deep clean and I don't think he is expensive.

I want to do it when the bike is stripped down so I won't be able to take it to anyone.

Plus I want to do it so I can check the bike over and draw up a list of things I need to bring it back up to like new.

But once it's all sorted I'll probably get it deep cleaned so it's good to go.

Sounds like a plan. Is it just cosmetically it need sorting ? I assume mechanically its in good nick.

Yep, just that. Riding all year takes its toll, no matter what brand of bike you ride.

I have no plans to sell it so I can take my time getting the bike the way I want it and I don't have to worry about spending the money and not getting it back.

In the winter I'll look to get the suspension refreshed.

Then after that get rid of the decat and sort out the fuelling (funds allowing)

Sounds good and as you say you have the time and don't mind investing cash into a long term project. Going to be a great bike when you have finished and now you have a dedicated commuter bike the six won't get the same level of all year round abuse.

Beermonster has been looking after my new plastics, so I nipped round to see him this evening to collect the front mudguard.

I'll use the mudguard as a colour guide to give to the painter.

http://www.mdmachine.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the guy I'm going to. I'll drop off the tank and the unpainted rear cowl I've got.

Once I get the tank back there's no excuses. I'll have to strip the bike down and get it cleaned then put on the new plastics.

Plastics picked up from Beermonster's - massive thanks to him for storing them and stopping Mrs Kwacky from divorcing me.

Bits and pieces on order.

The aim is to have it ready for the end of the month. Much depends on the paint job - the white is very dark, almost grey and it's got a very slight pearlescent effect which is hard to reproduce and isn't often available for sale.

@blade Tapatalk sometimes shows images in the thread list, it used to only show images from that thread but it looks like it is searching else where now.

Apart from that you get nothing else other than an app designed for reading forums.
