Imho we already did that.
When you look at it logically, the planet can "only" really support about 2 billion of us without our presence having a seriously damaging impact on the ecostructure.
We passed that level back in the 1920's.

I agree, allowing for a more sustainable approach would allow some wriggle-room on that figure. However 7.5 is far outside of anything that the planet's ecostructure can sustain however you play with the figures.
In some ways it's ironic that the Extinction rebellion has so many children supporters, when it could be argued that they are the very crux of the problem.
If the developed world had spent as much over the last 50+ years on educating & developing in the countries responsible for the largest % increases, instead of waging proxy wars & supporting rebel uprisings, it may not be quite so dire.? -Who knows.

If we were to love off the land then maybe we would be alright. I'm afraid to say we all want roads, we all want books/ mags newspapers, we all want heating, fresh running water, homes etc. Noone will ever live off the land now and eat only what we kill. We kill to substain what we want regardless of whether we eat it or not. As we build more we kill more. As our hunger grows we kill more. We are a killing machine.

More people = more demand therefore more profit for those supplying the demands. They are the ones with the power, influence & money.
Simple really imho. Fwiw the same flaws apply to many political issues

Duke, there's "money men" (should you choose to call them that) financing every political, environmental, business, etc. on the planet.
All this guy Bruhel does is point out that climate-change deniers receive contributions, donations, etc. from people who share similar views.
Just as he gets paid by an private education group/institution to say the exact opposite.
In effect..."It's okay when I get paid to do it, it's not okay of someone else gets paid to disagree".

Simple physics, as the thickness of the ice decreases it's ability to deal with temp changes decreases so the global warming process actually speeds up
