Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?

Post by Jack »

This could last for quite a while , once this outbreak is under control and the quarantine is over that is not the end of it, all we will have achieved is to have reset the clock , we still have no vaccine or effective treatments which means that it could start all over again at any time and with the infection rate as it is that means we are roughly 60 days from patient 0 to full global infection if it remains unchecked. Although in the grand scheme of things this disease doesn't appear to be that deadly it would still cause a death toll of approx 160 million people worldwide if left unchecked , about 100 million of those would be from the working population , those sorts of losses and the loss of experience/expertise could take decades to recover from .

Talking to a friend this morning who most certainly has the virus ( but not been tested) and her friend is one of the top medics in the area and she told her that if catching it and recovering from it means immunity, then she may well be asked to help out in the hospitals in the near future. She has no medical experience or training at all.

My friend is an NHS psychologist. She's got intubation training this week. She had IV training last week. They've given her a pass for the Birmingham QE hospital

There's a Tesco about 6 miles from me. This morning was for the elderly and NHS only. They had to shut the shop because the NHS staff and elderly couldn't get past the mass of people waiting to get in.

If only they could develop a virus to get rid of these wankers.

Half of me says yes to that, half of me says they're simply fearful.
The last half of me says it's time for breakfast.

The Apocalypse, & the end of life as we know it, is going to come down to the last two people on Earth, fighting over a doughnut.

I haven't seen him on TV anything like as much as you, Duke...bur it seems like he's just "affable & shy" to a certain extent, hence the rueful grin half the time.

This time I think not.

The only way the fall out from this can be sorted is with a wealth tax. The world will change significantly once this is all over.
