Tartar sauce is first choice but we don't always have some. Salad cream gives a better compliment to the fish than mayo does.

What's wrong with ketchup??....Or "Tom-arh-toe" sauce, if you prefer??

It's a good, solid, all-purpose sauce for most things 'sauce-able'.

Ketchup...or you're super-duper-cool "Catsup"...there's some culinary historical BS behind that, but I forget what it is??

I think if you microwave mayo it becomes tartar sauce?...it breaks down to it's component things.

Anyway.....brown sauce is always the clear, true champion of any, absolutely ANY, sauce contest.
