Going back to work,.

Haven't said much as I didn't want to jinx anything, but somehow I've managed to bag a bloody amazing contact. It's an initial 6 months, totally remote with one or two days a month in Sheffield.

I've given my notice to Morrisons and finish at the end of next week.

That’s awesome Jon

So when you say totally remote, that’s working from home??

I've got a full on day today finalising my proposal for my manager then I have a busy weekend preparing for my trackday.

I'll be cleaning the car inside too as it's pretty bad after a month or so. Getting fuel, picking up the generator, blah, blah, blah. I'll also be setting up the GoPro when that arrives and backing up the footage on my mates GoPro so I can run two cams. There's mowing that needs doing too.

The Wife is in one hell of a DIY mood too so I've got to juggle that.

Yay for "fun" weekends :D

It'll be worth it

I've packed my stuff and I'm ready to win a trackday.

I'm also figuring out a new-to-me website which allows you to post your GPS data and get a full circuit analysis, displaying braking and accelerating markers, your lines, your lap times and also accel/decel times and top speed.

The fastest 600 on the website is an R6 at 171mph. Not shabby!!!
The fastest 1000 is an S1000RR at 183mph.

Starting my 2 week holiday and watching the rain...

Also watching TT videos online and browsing Vauxhall Insignia's, the C1 is just too damned small. Although, it was hilarious seeing my 73 year old mother trying to get in to the back seat, she was determined (it's a 3 door) But I really need something a bit bigger, and I want heated seats since I enjoyed the one on the KTM so much.

If you want big then look at the Skoda Superb too.. they are epicly large!

I've also been looking at small mpv's like the Ford B-max and Vauxhall Meriva... I think that I will stick with the C1 in reality, hire a bigger car when my parent chauffeur services are called for.

Partly because the job that I have applied for comes with a company car, the one that I really want out of the many.

Superb's around here are mainly taxi's, they are big and worth a look, my last vag car was plagued with niggly problems though, and a warped cylinder head at 50K miles. (2009 seat leon tdi).

I think you got the lemon by the sounds of it. Is your potential company car going to be something like a Golf GTD estate, 320d/330e touring? My Leon ST (estate) is surprisingly big given its actually quite small on the outside. Its also decent for rear passengers and the seats are quite flat and therefore not an issue with 3 in the back unlike the BMW with sculpted seats.

The reason I said the Skoda Superb is the size and the amount of equipment you get as standard. Acres of leg room and typically VAGs are reliable.

I would avoid Mercs personally as they are typically more unreliable and more expensive to fix. Also pretty bad on fuel.

My advice would be do not have a diesel car as a company car.

It will cost you a fortune in benefit in kind.

It depends on mileage, Duke. If you're doing 150 miles a day, go diesel. Its gonna pay in the long run. If you're doing 20 miles a day, get a 330e as you can use the electric power around towns etc and the bigger use in fuel on the motorway won't be as big as the saving on BIK

Nothing. One of those days where just want to lie on the sofa and sleep. It's cold, wet and miserable outside.

I did that for 2 months post surgery. It wasn't for me long term. I only enjoy the odd day I get to do it every few months because it isn't my norm.

Social distancing done right. Made it to our overnight rest stop without issue. Led in the back of my car stretched out just lovely.

Cadwell Park tomorrow... hopefully it will be epic!
