Re: Helmet recommendations
Grabbed a second helmet but this time with a sun visor. Think it will pay dividence in the long run going too and from work. Don't really want my RPHA getting all sweaty inside after work
AGV K5 - it's off the shelf as they had no more in stock but I got it for £164 (tagged at £174) so thought it was reasonably priced!

Re: Helmet recommendations
Sun visors are useful but I tend to find that they're not strong enough for really bright sun.

I'll prob put on a bit of black electrical tape on the top of the visit too just for a bit of extra help.Kwacky wrote:Sun visors are useful but I tend to find that they're not strong enough for really bright sun.

Re: Helmet recommendations
I'm liking that lid a lot...simple but bold graphics....and the price definitely seems reasonable.

Re: Helmet recommendations
I'd try it on the bike first, if it's anything like my S4 you won't be able to see the road.Rossgo wrote:I'll prob put on a bit of black electrical tape on the top of the visit too just for a bit of extra help.Kwacky wrote:Sun visors are useful but I tend to find that they're not strong enough for really bright sun.

Re: Helmet recommendations
LOL I meant with the tape on. The top of the visor on my S4 sits very low down and it looks very similar. I got used to it on the Daytona and used it for 5 years as it only blocked out the sky.

Re: Helmet recommendations
Monty thanks for the advice I am going to try it at the weekend as off to Exmoor with the IAM guys so will have a good varied time with it.
Kwacky and D thanks guys I've been looking at the K5 for some time and originally I thought I could feel a pressure point on my head which could of been the fact it wasn't bedded in but I've tried a couple since my first fitting and actually turns out it fits very well! I liked this look a lot as well. I wanted a bright lid for work not saying it will make a massive difference but something is better than nothing in my opinion

Re: Helmet recommendations
With my AGV you have to wear it with the chin piece a little higher. It's designed to work that way so it's right in a race crouch.
Push the chin bar up slightly before you do it up. Have a look at how Guy Martin wears his.

Re: Helmet recommendations
Cheers duke just taken a quick look and you aren't kidding he does wear it higher up that would help with having wider vision. Cheers for the advice

You aren't kidding Monty!!! Sits very low down and then makes it worse WITH the pinlock on the visor as exactly where you look is where the outskirts of the Pinlock isMonty wrote:LOL I meant with the tape on. Why would anyone design a helmet like This!!! Why not just make the viewing port biggerduke63 wrote:With my AGV you have to wear it with the chin piece a little higher. It's designed to work that way so it's right in a race crouch.

Re: Helmet recommendations
I'm guessing they made it more for the street fighter kind of bike. I used a foggy mask with mine instead of a pin lock and got used to it. Stopped bothering me after a while, but not used it since I bought the RAPHA 10, doesn't compare to it.

Re: Helmet recommendations
So I have now used the lid for approx. 190 miles yesterday. Will be using it throughout the whole weekend as away in Exmoor at the moment but my initial thoughts at first
Comfy, looks good And has a sun visor.
While riding
The front seems quite long, as if I should have a beak or something for a mouth. I originally thought bloody hell it let's in ALOT of air and I didn't realise where it was coming from, I closed all my vents and I was still freezing...after 50 or so miles in I suddenly realised there are 2 vents at the front that, as far as I'm aware or see you can't close and therefore air comes rushing in!! This would be amazing in summer but for winter it will be no good so I will have to use tape to cover those vents up from the inside because as soon as I put my hand on the front of the vents it feels nice and warm inside
Couldn't see a bloody thing when tucked in and at 3/4 wasn't much better due to the Pinlock getting in the way! So that's when I rememeber about Dukes comment and Duke is right a little tampering with the lid does make a difference e.g. push it upwards and it makes it more comfortable and you can actually see...Guy Martin must get annoyed with doing that unless he has a bigger head than me and it naturally stays in that position
The good points while riding
It's quiet. Infact I rode yesterday about 10 miles without plugs and it just has a small whistle past your ears, that's it!! I am highly impressed with that
It's very stable and I've woke up this morning expecting to have a bad neck (due to the position of the visor) BUT I feel fine!! They have put work into this lid it is very good
It will be great for commuting just need to sort those 2 vents out then all should be well!
