Imagine if everyone had one the que at the charging station would be horrendous if we had to wait an hour per car and there was 10 people in front of you.

Long term the intention is for a battery bank system. You pull up, swap the battery, pay and leave.

I think the braking on them is already regenerative.

I'd happily have a driverless car as long as i could drive it if i wanted to.

I hadn't thought about the whole battery swapping idea... can't see why it wouldn't work though !!

That said, you'd be paying for the bloke to change the thing which would add up. It would be a lot more expensive than your 40p for a full charge

Yep, it would be more expensive to do a battery swap but it'll be convenient on long journeys and it won't prevent you from charging up in the usual way.

The Government where very badly advised by the "Experts" and choose to only focus on CO2 reduction. Hence why every company car in the UK including my own is a diesel. In fact every company car I've had in the last 15 years has been a diesel, because that's the way the company car tax was/is incentified

They went the wrong way and the car industry supplied the demand.

Government doesn't get advised by real experts. They gat advised by people with a vestige interest.

The latest hybrids rip the latest diesels to shreds on CO2 emissions but only when the electric engine is in use and most have a electric only range of about 20 miles so once again the reality is very different from what Government is trying to achieve.

Within ten years only electric cars will be allowed in city centres and that will refocus many peoples buying choices.
