Fitted the tail tidy and 7x5 plate. I think I'm going to get busy with the dremel and raise it up another couple of inches...

(shocked) I hope that pic is before you fitted the tail tidy TB.??

If not, surely the 6" of corrugated plastic above the plate should become the mounting plate for the Number Plate to mount to.

That is the new tail tidy, lol. Longer that what I expected hence the dremel action that will be happening in due course.

Is it possible to fit the plate higher on the tail tidy and then cut the bottom off?

Wheeled it out of the garage to have a quick shufty. Took a few pics to show the new bits, please excuse the state of the bike, I had to ride it back from the garage on a sprayful M54!

Front brake reservoir...Image
...I much prefer the look of this over the newer ones. OK, so I can't see as much fluid as the newer models but let's be honest, I never look to see how much I've got anyway. Or even what colour the fluid is!

Rear brake reservoir...
Image
...Happy with the pot but I'd prefer the bracket to be black as well. I can spray that up if necessary though.

Renthal chain & sprocket...
Image
...Happy with this. Looks powerful and purposeful, without being too bling. It has what appears to be white wax on it so doesn't look as showroom fresh as it does in the advertisements, but I'll take that over rust any day! Only downside I find is the bike's silver wheels detract from it. I've never been fully on board with the silver wheels, maybe it's time to properly consider the powdercoating route.

No pics of the new filters or fluids, obviously. And I forgot to take pics of the brake lines specifically. Maybe next time.

So that's the essentials done. I now need to focus on the final pieces of the Z1000 jigsaw, stuff like the wheels, downpipes, crash bungs etc...
I think I need to have another sit down, work out exactly what I want and how much it will cost, and just get it done, rather than putting it off because I'm tight and don't want to spend anything. Otherwise, by the time I get it finished it'll be time for a new bike!!!

It's a false alarm. I'm keeping it a few more months.

It was minus 3 when I got into work this morning. I had ice on my gloves. I think I need to invest in some heated grips.

Yep, fecking freezing now! I wouldn't mind, but we've just not had the snows this year.

Heated gloves are so much better, Kwacky.

I have bought some Keis heated gloves, got these as I already have the Keis heated waistcoat so with a couple of new leads it all plugs together.

Yep agreed with others here Kwacky. The heated gloves are ace. They keep your ouster hand nice and toasty. However downside of them is don't use them if it's going to be wet outside as they will give you electric shocks...yes it's happened too me haha!!

How do people get around that fact anyway? If you do use them in the wet weather??

Gerbings gloves are water proof. The pair my dad has got wet on the inside after his jacket leaked and they were still keeping his hands warm. There was steam coming off his hands when he took the gloves off.

Lubed my sidestand pivot because it was sticking and copper greased the back of my brake pads because they were squealing. Smooth sidestand and quiet brakes now

What Tony & Rossgo say is pretty much on the money re Gerbings gloves, I've worn a pair in horrendous riding conditions - a 13hr stint in pouring rain and blowing a hooley (675.cc fest), the gloves were steaming every time we stopped, but despite being wet through when I got home my hands were toasty warm. Try them once and you'll never go back.

Stripped and lubed the suspension linkages on the ZX10R ready for some fairer weather hopefully soon.

The big kwacker is or of the easiest bikes I have ever worked on and although not Honda levels of engineering I have to say I m pretty impressed with how it's put together.

I used the HJC lid today as the Nolan one needs cleaning inside and out.

It's not as warm as the Nolan nor is it as quiet. The field of view is different as well. I think I'll stick to using it at the weekends in the warmer weather.
