A 14 hr day... disadvantage of being stuck where you work. If it turns to shite you can't just say 'see ya I'm off home'.

2 more days to go......

Spent to morning on a biker down course with the Bucks fire brigade. Worth a morning of my time, CPR, first aid stuff, getting a helmet off when someone is not breathing. The rest was pretty much down to using your head.

Much of which was they way we all operated when Kwacky went down in Wales.

They seem to have the tourniquet back in the first aid kit bag, seems after the Olympics where the biggest threat was someone coming along and shooting into a crowd!!! this is the best way to stop a major bleed and death, better to loose the limb rather than life! Who'ed a thought.
So that was an interesting fact. However removing a lid and all the other info was worth while. Nice to know, dont really want to be in a position when it would be needed.

Sounds good Frankie. Did the fire brigade advertise the course?

Not that I am aware of, one of the guys that I ride out with on the Rat Runs arranged it before Christmas, there is no fee, just put into the collection box at the end. I ended up putting a wedge into the air ambulance by mistake, but hey they all need a little.

I found this link if you want to know more http://bucksfire.gov.uk/roads/biker-down/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Took my lad to the Monday night football session for the first time tonight (he goes same club Thurs and Sat) as he has been wanting to go for weeks and what a disaster (blush)

Three degrees air temperature but god knows what wind chill because of the horrible wind and rain for the whole one hour session. I'm soaked to the skin and lost the use of my hands and feet and the boy is shaking with cold and virtually in tears all the way home. Not the success it was supposed to be (gah)

I've done Sunday morning kids rugby like that, in the end my lad said he liked playing but hated being frozen with hands that wouldn't work, he knocked it on the head.It kills any love for the game when you're frozen to the bone wishing it would end.

100% agree Deegee.

We shouldn't have gone with hindsight but he was so excited and his friends were going so I took the gamble as it was only spitting when we left home.

Half way through I could see the pain on his face although he did dig deep and still made an effort to play well.

Lesson learned and we won't go again in similar conditions as your right being bone cold is no fun at all regardless of the activity.

Fully agree 100% kiwi but being honest I think it went too far.

A little 6 year old boy in freezing rain for an hour in shorts and tshirt was harsh. He was physically shaking quite badly by the end and I felt quite bad for allowing it to go on with hindsight. I knew he wasn't being soft as I had 2 coats on and was thoroughly pi$$ed off after 15 minutes. It was bitter and too much (rain) (shake)

"Do you want to play football in the freezing rain again?"
"No"
"Well clean your room and don't answer me back"

;) Job done.

In all seriousness it's one of those things, he wanted to go, you went, it didn't work out. What he does know is that his dad spent time with him and that's something worthwhile you can take away from the experience.

I've pointed this out before, but the "Great" in GB is specifically great as in larger....
Apparently our country is destined to become greater than ever, heading rapidly to become just as great as America.: linky
