Motorbike cleaner
I use the SDOC100 motorcycle cleaning gel to wash my bike. I've run out.
Before I order some more are there any other products you can recommend or should I stick with SDOC?

Re: Motorbike cleaner
I don't use anything bike specific on my bike.. I find what works on the car works on the bike
I like Car Plan Wash/Wax Shampoo then using Meguiars polish and/or wax on the paintwork and WD40 Silicon shine on the blacks. WD40 Wax in a can is pretty good too in fairness, works really well and it quick to apply

Re: Motorbike cleaner
I've never found anything that cleans like sdoc! It's expensive though so I just tend to use car shampoo and keep the sdoc for special occasions lol.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
It is expensive but it's good.
I've been spraying the bike first with a car cleaner and warm water then washing it down with a bucket and sponge with some SDOC in the bucket, rather than spraying the SDOC on the bike. That seems to work.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
I used to use washing up liquid, D4... until I learned that they're really bloody strong.
By strong I mean they will easily remove any protected layer that is on the bike's paintwork. Any polish, wax or other sealants can easily be removed by it. This is why I now use a wash/wax that's quite gentle. If I need a deep wash then I just use two caps instead of one.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
Agree about the washing up liquid- way too harsh. It's good if you're doing a thorough cleaning though and you're going to acf after and wax the bodywork. A good quality car wax on the painted bodywork makes cleaning so much easier then next time.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
Washing up liquid contains about 15% salt. Not something you want on your bike.

That made me check.......says "Phostate Free!" on the bottle, so I guess it's OK.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
I went with the SDOC again.
I also bough some degreaser for the difficult spots. I'll try it on a couple of small areas to see how I get on with it.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
Not found anything that gets close to sdoc. It's great for cleaning brake calipers too. They come up like new.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
How do you buy the SDOC and how do you use it?
Do you buy it in a spray bottle or do you use it like a car shampoo and put a cap-full into a bucket of warm water???
If you buy the spray do you use it as a pre-wash?

Re: Motorbike cleaner
As Duke says spray it on and leave it.
But in the winter I tend to spray the bike with warm water with a little bit of car shampoo in it, leave that, then wash the bike with a bucket and sponge with some SDOC in the water. That seems to keep it clean.
In summer you get more bugs and tar thrown up, so spary the bike with SDOC and wash it off. I don't wax the bike in winter but I do in summer.

Re: Motorbike cleaner
I love SDOC, very good quaility stuff. I tend to use it (like Andy) for special occasions like when the bike is filthy!! It really is pricy stuff but does exactly what it's suppose to. Good choice Kwacky, personally I'd say SDOC is the best for you anyway as you commute on the bike everyday so it does need the best!!
