Dealing with bureaucracy and listening to endless amounts of muzak whilst on hold for said bureaucrats. I have to say that most companies in the UK are pretty good when it comes to dealing with deceased relatives, but there are one or two that are utter sh1ts and don't care less no matter what the poor sods that work there have to deal with from us remaining types that feel like kicking a door in with the frustration of it all.

P.S. I started this post in the "what have you done today?" section, but realised my ranty self had bubbled to the top again.

Dealers who refuse to list a price for their new bikes. Not even a RRP.

Like I'm going to call someone and ask them for their best price and hand over my details. If you can't be bothered to give me an indication of price, I can't be bothered to give you an indication of my interest.

Yep, I know that one. I fired my CV off to a couple of law firms on a speculative basis. I'll make a more determined effort at the end of the month when I've got some time to myself.

Things are that bad?

For me it's just that I've been here for 5 months and already feel like I could run the place better. My manager, his manager and various other people do not know how to make decisions - so they don't. When I went to spain for the week, I'd given them my verdict from all the testing I'd been doing and strongly urged them to get the change made ASAP. Mid week when I'd gotten back it came up in the meeting that they were going to implement it the following week. 3 weeks to make one change that would have taken 1 person 1 hour to make!!!

I'm fed up and want to leave already to somewhere change is looked on as a good thing - if nothing changes, problems aren't going to go away

Yep. My boss is swamped with work, so he's decided to become withdrawn and try and do it all himself. That means I've got feck all to do and as he's too busy to update the files I don't know what happening on them. I kicked off during my annual appraisal about the lack of supervision, involvement in cases and absence of training and feedback. Since then things have not improved so it's time to see if there's work somewhere else.

The downside I've got are the lack of law firms which do the type of work I do at this level.

Ah.. that sucks when you can see there's work but you aren't given any; "making yourself look busy" isn't something I see as fun..

It gets better. My boss has doubled booked himself so I need to cover a telephone conference tomorrow.

At 5pm (facepalm)

So I've got nothing to do in the day then have to spend a couple of hours at work on the phone. Deep deep joy.

Don't let that push you out mate. You will realise that's just how it works in many companies. Ours is just as bad on that front fellaImage

It isn't just that Rossgo, it's also the fact I was sold a design job... I've done no design. All I've done is investigate customer returns and conduct monotonous testing of anodising and I knew full well at the start that it was all in vain as nothing has or will be done about it.

I get what you're saying though !!

I see where you are coming from fella. That's a real shame they are doing that to you. I remember how happy you were with the job offer.

Fwiw I think you'll find it may have been a bit of an intentionally "Freudian slip" jibe at the irritating poster he was responding to. ;)
