2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
Another MCN "Exclusive"
Just when it looked like the sports-touring class was going to be left to fester, it appears
Kawasaki will join Ducati in releasing an all-new bike in that class.
Patent drawings suggest Kawasaki have a secret new road-focused Ninja 1000 under development, which comes just a week after Ducati previewed their new SuperSport 939 at World Ducati Week. The two bikes would be a massive shake-up for the sports-touring class, which has been almost abandoned by bike firms as they have rushed to develop adventure bikes and modern classics.
These computer-generated images have been based on patent drawings lodged to cover many of the technical and aerodynamic innovations that Kawasaki are keen to protect from being copied.
Given that we're half way through 2016 I would presume that any 2017 model is close to production.

Re: 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
Looks like a mash up between the current SX and the last ZX10R.
Stick a 160bhp engine in and I'll be tempted

Re: 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
It's just a rendering. Without a rear brake disc, apparently.
Exhaust looks crap...tank looks weird. Rim tape.
I quite like it...it'll make everything else look better...even a Harley.

Re: 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
I'm considering a sports tourer as my next ride. If it looks like this when I eventually get around to getting one I won't take much convincing. I almost said "Oooh" out loud when I saw it!
Subjective. Most factory exhausts aren't exactly gorgeous.D41 wrote: Exhaust looks crap...
It looks a little different, I grant you. But not in any way bad.D41 wrote:tank looks weird.
I'm pretty sure you're the only one on this forum that hates rim tape with such passion. It suits the colour scheme to a tee.D41 wrote:Rim tape.
You're off your fookin' nut!D41 wrote:I quite like it...it'll make everything else look better...even a Harley.

Re: 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
There's no information anywhere else so I suspect there's very little truth in it. The SX does need updating though.

Re: 2017 Kawasaki Z1000SX
HD aren't all that bad.....I can see why people don't like them for sure, but they're one of the very few brands where you can actually sell the bike used and make money on it....there's a LOOONG waiting list for them...or at least some of them.Itchy wrote:You're off your fookin' nut!D41 wrote:I quite like it...it'll make everything else look better...even a Harley.
They have a HUGE tank range compared to a sportbike (ie. you don't have to carry extra fuel with you on the pillion seat)...you can carry a lot of other stuff on them too.
I can see why they don't make sense on the UK's roads.....but for the same reasons a sportbike doesn't make a lot of sense either on US roads. A sportbike is all about performance numbers, at the expense of everything else....a HD is just about enjoying the ride.

yeah....... nah!D41 wrote:a HD is just about enjoying the ride.
I take my dads for a ride every time I got back to NZ on his insistence as I'm sure he's trying to convert me.
If enjoyable is a numb ar$e from vibrations, crap handling and no ground clearance and something that imo doesn't look any good then you can have it D.
I would rather have my Multi for a comfy enjoyable ride, that's still handles, goes like snot if you desire and has modern electronics and looks pleasing. And if I put all my luggage system on it it carries way more (and well) than a HD.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Doesn't look like it's had an increase in power. Some electronics added and some styling changes, including a lower and fatter seat, wider front fairing and DB screen. I doubt there's enough there to make me want to switch from what I've got.

I'm waiting to see what the z900 has to offer. We'll find out more at Milan.
