^^^^^ very much this
Last Monday after Taekwondo me and the kids stood in the kitchen, eating toast and drinking tea. We didn't talk about anything special, but that 15 minutes just chatting was very special.

Not today but yesterday, I saw a mum walking her daughter to primary school with her ipod on. That's the mum with the ipod on by the way not the child.

What's that all about. I love starting the day by walking my kids to school. It's a privilege not to be wasted imo. No toys, no tv, no distractions just you and your child sharing some conversation (lol) it's a great time and a great start to the day. What a shame to waste such a golden opportunity. Some people just don't see the joy right in front of them.
With you there Blade. I think working away makes you appreciate the time you get with the kids.

As someone who's been both a working and stay at home dad (on my own with 4 kids) I can understand your sentiments, but also sympathise with the Mum for wanting to drown the little brat's voice out! (lol)

I love my kids dearly, but there are times when I don't want to be in the same room as them!

Don't get me wrong Monty, I'm just on a two night weekend away from the kids, and Jess doesn't have hers either, so fully appreciating that time as well.

Byron talks endlessly, 99% of the time it's gaming dribble. But it's his dribble, and his Behaviour Specialist once said to me, listen to your kids little stuff because it's big stuff to them. And they won't tell you the big stuff later in life if you haven't established a good base of listen and understanding at a younger age.

Hence I now know all about Terrira, minecraft, FNAF world, Pokémon, Tamagotchi life and the like. But I know he talks to me about things that are bothering or worrying him rather than his mum, and she completely ignores his other banter.

As for drowning out bad behaviour or whinging, I won't do that, I jump on the behaviour as soon as I can. The good thing about his obsessiveness with gaming is I can use denial of electronics to toe him into line pretty quick.

But I will always take my hat off to you Monty handling 4. I do that on occasion with looking after Jess' kids for her and I'm wiped by the end of the day!!

HAHA yes that would be nice.

Our problem wasn't so much the number of kids, more the age of them as we had 4 kids within 5 years. When the twins were born Will was 5 and Lily was only 20 months old.

It very nearly finished us off as a couple the pressure was unbelievable, relentless and 24 hours a day. Think we went over 12 months without a proper nights sleep.

But it's over now, they've turned out to be lovely little characters and because of the similar age they're all best mates. (most of the time)

Plus they all started school 2 weeks ago! WOO HOO 30 hours a week!!!

More insurance stuff...

My insurance is up for renewal, and Hastings Direct's renewal quote was £206. This was about £40 cheaper than last year, still including helmet & leathers. I was made up with that, I thought I won't have to ring around this year.

But I went on the Bike Insurer comparison site anyway.

Bennetts, whom I had previously sworn off for good due to them increasing my premium to over 400 quid a few years back, topped the list at £86.

For an annual premium!!!

Okay, when I added helmet and leathers to the quote it ended up at £123, but clearly there's improvement to be made over my initial renewal quote.

This is where I get vexed though. Hastings Direct, the company I'm with currently, came 4th on the list, only about £12 more than Bennetts.
Why can they not just give me the best renewal quote they can? I know it's a business and they want to make money, but if I'd had a quote similar to what's on the comparison site they'd have had my business. Now, it's questionable.

But still, if I'm moaning about paying less for my insurance I think I need to evaluate my life! (facepalm)

the number of people who just accept the renewal makes it worth their while to bump the price up.

Ring them up Itchy and just ask them to match the price they are quoting on the comparison site and you will renew. For 12 quid it's not worth the hassle of moving imo.

Annoying they try and rip you off though (n)

That is my first port of call mate. That is, once I find the required 5 hours to ring an insurance company!

Even

Why add it to every sentence?

"What are you even doing?"
"What even is that?"
"Why are you even asking me?"
