Re: What do you want to vent about today?
Cookie, a friend's son has been applying for jobs in London for some time in his chosen profession. He got a 1st at Uni. He has finally got a job doing what he wants. His contract states he is employed and paid for a 40 hour week. He may be asked to do extra hours at any point for which he will not be paid. On his second week he did 56 hours.
Those with the right attitude are being exploited as much as possible. What happened to rights of employees? We are returning to the dark days of worker against government/employer and all we will end up with is strike after strike.

At risk of stating the obvious; Now that we're leaving the EU & all it's mandates & protection the UK government will be free to leave market forces to take control here.duke63 wrote:......Those with the right attitude are being exploited as much as possible. That way we can "look forward" to being far more competitive than our European cousins, due to us having no minimum wage, no compulsory enforced time off & no lower or higher age etc etc etc....?

Yep. The European working directive will no longer apply, so lorry drivers can drive all night if they want to.

I very much fear you may be right. Back to Victorian England by the feel of it (only with smartphones and no manufacturing )duke63 wrote:Cookie, a friend's son has been applying for jobs in London for some time in his chosen profession. Re: What do you want to vent about today?
People in my line of work who can't write.
I'm reviewing document drawn up by someone else and it's hurting my head. I want to rip it up and rewrite the whole thing. it's so painful to read.
Stick to the basics - keep sentences short and sweet, don't repeat yourself, give an account in a chronological order, tell the expert what he needs to know, what the issues are and what you want them to consider. It's not difficult.

People who talk too fast. FFS, slow down, control your breathing and think about what you're going to say because at present it sounds like 12 talk show radio stations are playing at the same time.

Insurance
How can a zx10r be £202 fully comp and a 1299 be £959 fully comp to insure ?
Surely Ducati owners are lower risk than Kawasaki nutters

I do wonder how the insurance system works and I've been involved with it for the last 15 years.
Replacement parts and the prospect of being written off are said to be two key factors for the new Ducatis. By all accounts they don't crash very well.

Fair point I can imagine a write off is quite easy.
Surprised with the price though. Old codger, clean lience and 12 years NCB. Bike garaged.

Yep, it's taking the piss a bit.
I wonder how much of a difference a tracker would make to the quote?

Not sure that would help if the high quote is for reasons previously stated.
