Today is pub lunch day which means it's a good day !!!

I'll probably go to the gym today as there'll quite probably be minimal engine work I can be getting on with. Tuesday night I removed, cleaned and relapped all 16valves in my Fiesta's cylinder head as well as replacing all valve stem seals and the 2 exhaust valves I didn't change first time round (turns out they were bent too!!) All in it took about 4 hours including getting the head off the car.

After about 2 hours sleep in the hottest room ever we're spending the day at Thorpe Park.

I give it until midday before the over tired kids start arguing and us parents want to go home.

Applying for the job I already do (swear)

There are 22 people in my department and only 15 jobs to remain.

Should know if I have a job at end of September. I got served stage redundancy notice on 1st August (facepalm)

Cheers lads. Not sure how it will go tbh as I'm one of the more experienced employees and thus get paid a higher wage than most. As it's a cost cutting exercise it's been said the company are looking to let some of that experience go unfortunately.

Time will tell I guess, but Im refusing to worry about it as nothing I can do so just playing the waiting game but it's not a great atmosphere here at the moment understandably.

Know how that feels mate, similar to what happened at the Refinery, but there was only 20 jobs from 150 in Ops. They kept all the young and lower paid blokes as well.

Fingers crossed mate.

All the best mate. Wont the redundancy payouts be higher for people who have been there longer with a higher wage? Might actually be cheaper to let newer arrivals go?

Yes payouts are more but unfortunately for me HR have said they are looking to pump more experienced staff to reduce the wage bill / operational expenditure.

Also lower pay grade / job group personal that actually do an identical role to me have been ring fenced and do not have to apply for their jobs and have not been served redundancy notice.

HR have made it pretty clear their targetting the experienced staff and as such I'm ar risk. Makes sense I guess just not very convenient for me or other experienced colleagues.

If lower paid staff who do the same job as you have not been served a redundancy notice then to my mind that is illegal. I'm guessing they have found a way round that somehow.

They have Duke. Although we pretty much all do the same core job role we are in different job groups. I'm a job group 6 and at risk. Job group 7 which virtually do 90 % of my role are not at risk and job group 8 who are trainees are also not at risk. There is little difference between a 6 and 7 its just I'm classed as senior and have a few additional roles but realistically our core job role is almost identical.

It's all a bit complicated tbh but it's all above board and if it wasn't we wouldhave access to good advice as one of my colleagues who is effected has a barrister for his wife so well up on law.

Thanks for the comments though buddy.

That's sounds well complicated blade, hope it works or for you mate.

I had a phone interview today that went really well, in for a face to face next week. It's going to do wonders for my cv and skill set if I get it, the only major downside is that it's in central London...

Looks like I may be getting used to trains!
