Obviously not the same pedigree of answer, but whilst we're awaiting TC's response......:

Fwiw I have a Cow Hide two piece & a Kangaroo one, both by Wolf. The std one is heavier & thicker, the 'roo one is thinner & lighter but stiffer.
I like both of them very much, and don't really have a bias for either, except that if it's colder I'd probably grab the Cow Hide one.

I've crashed with both, and they both bear the scars that they have protected me from having.

Wonder why ? Surely if kanagroo is better they would use it unless there is some commercial or marketing reason to stay with leather. Anyone know ?

I've hit a cow and I've hit a 'roo in a car. The roo made a bigger mess of my car. Go with the 'roo leather

They always used to use Italian leather. It was part of their brand and marketing. Not sure if that's still the case but I think it is.

Kangaroo hide is far more abrasion resistant than cowhide of the same thickness. This is because, unlike cows, kangaroos only sweat through their tail and therefore there are no pores in the hide. Kangaroo garments can therefore be lighter and provide more ‘feel’. Special tanning and drying methods mean kangaroo hide is resistant to moisture and so is less likely to loose its shape or degrade over time.

Kangaroo: The most expensive leather, and highly prized for motorcycle gloves due to its combination of soft and strong qualities. It can cost twice as much as other mid priced leathers. If your budget allows, go for it!

That's a bit of a leap isn't it?

If that was the case no one would use it.

Reading the article it claims kangaroo has better abrasion properties than leather as a kangaroo can only sweat through its tail therefore less pores (same as a perforation) in the material (obviously excluding the tail).

If that's correctly naturally you would assume if the manufacturing process then added perforations you would lose all advantages offered by the use of Kanagroo.

Sorry, perhaps I've got my lawyer mind on. Surely you don't lose ALL of the advantages? The perforations would only constitute x% of the suit, leaving more than enough material to retain the abrasion resistant properties it posses, otherwise there's no point in using it. Ian any event, even if the suit is perforated, those holes are usually put on less crucial areas.

I agree, seems logical to me too Blade.
FYI I've just been out & inspected my Wolf 2 piece set, and it is only perforated on certain panels.: The insides of the thighs, the centre of the chest.

My Wolf suit is Roo leather. It's lighter and thinner than any cowhide suit I have seen. I bought some Alpinestars GPPro gloves a few months ago. They have cowhide palms and lack the feel of Roo palms. I wish I had waited a while and gone for the top of the range gloves with Roo palms.

I have Held Phantom gloves Duke and would recommend. They have Kanagroo and sting ray palms with cowhide and carbon uppers.

Best glove I ve ever owned including the £300+ Dainese Full Metal Racer which I didn't rate at all, just looked very good.
