Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've started being able to consider going back to the gym now... going to be very tough but I hate that my large chest is shrinking and my small waist is growing.
I also have a heart rate monitor to track my 'training zone' and to monitor my cardio improvements.
The plan:
3x/week 1minute sprints, 1 minute rest (15 sets)
2x/week weights. These will be heavy and strength orientated comprising of Upper body and Legs + deadlift
Football training is starting again too

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've started to get some hip pain, which I guess is a combination of doing a lot of squats and the increased range in my kicking. So I've switched my gym routines now and gone to a more traditional 3 day split, doing a couple of body parts each time. I'm hoping the rest I give my legs will pay off.
Today is chest and arms, day two is back and shoulders and day 3 is legs and core. Nothing fancy in the routines, just the basics with a compound exercise to start off with on each session after a 10 minute cardio warmup

Legs and core last night. The air conditioning wasn't working so it wasn't very pleasant working out.
Ended up showing some bloke how to kick as he seemed determined to break his toes on the bag.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Starting from Wednesday last week I started football again.. that involved the Bleep Test and more football-based fitness training.
Friday was Sprint-Endurance Interval training: 1minute on, 1 minute off (Treadmill flat out at 20km/h)
Monday was Sprint-Endurance again and tonight will be more football fitness training.
I will be doing weights again as of next week. 2 days, Upper body and Legs plus deadlift

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Back to pounding the pavement.
I've got a 1/2 marathon next weekend, so been knocking the mileage up a bit.
17 miles last week, including a really hard trail session. 11 miles so far this week, but hoping to get s cheeky 10 miler in Sunday morning.
The only things I'm struggling with are a bad chest cold, hayfever, and asthma.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Gym was empty yesterday afternoon which meant that the air conditioning wasn't overloaded.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
If someone is wearing shorts THAT short, they can't really complain if people are looking.
In fact, it's got to be a primary reason for getting them in the first place!
I'm doing legs today but my shorts aren't like that!

You're not wrong. Last time I wore a pair of shorts to the supermarket the chicken counter thought I was shoplifting.
They're not display legs, that's for sure!

Too warm for anything active last night so we did stretching at Taekwondo. You know you're old when you can barely bend your back and the kids next to you are lying face down with their legs apart at 180 degrees

Re: The new improved fitness thread
As long as you can kick someone in the mush it's all good!
I did my 2 leg sessions yesterday. During the lunchtime one at one point I was doing calf raises on the Smith Machine, which was good for 2 reasons.
Firstly, my previous calf workout was 3 sets of 15 reps at 50kg. The bar was already set up at 60kg. My calves have always been embarrassingly small, probably because I never push them hard enough. I thought that last workout was where my limit was.
So I thought I'd maybe get 8-10 reps.
No.
5 sets, 15 reps on each.
OK, the last few weren't great but it shows that I'm capable of pushing myself much further than I think I am.
Secondly, whilst doing the calf raises I was directly in front of a lovely young lady doing pull ups.
Facing me.
In yoga pants.
I swear I was almost close enough to sniff it!!!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I knew as soon as I looked at the holy grail of camel-toe that stood before me, that as I put this on Tankslap somebody would want a pic!
She was close enough to kick me in the chops whilst doing a pull up. I had a hard enough time not staring, and I'm pretty sure she could see that too. Whipping my phone out would have been detrimental to my health.
This gym lark is going to make me go blind! Now summer is here I'm quite surprised by the amount of hotties in the RAF.
I never f****ng see them in uniform, that's for sure!
