Sound testing at track

Combe do 3/4 of max rpm at 1/2 meter.

Usually it's about 6k at 1m. For the likes of us 600 riders that's 12k at half a meter !!

Castle combe is around 70miles away from me. The tracking is Tuesday 27th September so a fair while yet! I may just pop over there and get it tested. I might call soon and see when they would be available.

I just want to go out on track to be honest!! I proper want to get onto the BBS track days that Gary run's, just need to save up for it though as it is a tad pricey but we'll worth it

Rang them up I've got to wait until they have a track day for one of their meters to be free. I'll have to take a look at when they have track days next

There are some nice roads near Combe so maybe make it into a rideout?

I have been there a couple of times for the jap fest back In my younger days but haven't been there for so many years I can't remember any of the roads. I will take a ride down there at some point when I get a day off.

Update on this. I got my exhaust tested while at IAM meet on Sunday. The sound it was pumping out at 3/4 revs was..... 113.7 dB!! Must admit I was pretty shocked at that but it doesn't lie!! Standard can goes back on I guess!!

That really surprises me. The RSV was tested at 114 with a pro noise tester gadget and that has 38mm straight through cans with no cats.

Was that a proper noise tester, or a phone app? On a side note, a track would test you at 6k, which is probably less than you where testing it at.

It was a proper sound tester. It was done by the guy who organises and books the track days for our whole club. I was shocked as well!! Didn't realise how loud it was. At Castle Combe they test at 3/4 the rev range hence such a high result. It's not even a little over it's a lot over [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]. It's the scorpion can like Cav said earlier in the thread which has caused this!!

Im not surprised Rossgo, there a quite a number of bikes listed that will not pass with standard cans on, my Multistrada will not pass either and that's with the CAT still on which chokes the noise coming out of the bike.

But why do tracks have this silly rule, surely this is why people go to track events to be able to do what speeds they like and have noisy whatever they want!!

I'm not personally into the whole make a massive amount of noise but can understand why people do and track should be the place where you can get away with it! I'm guessing it's all because of the silly locals who buy a house next to a track and then complain about it for the rest of their lives, because tracks are everywhere and buying a house that isn't next to a track is near on impossible [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Irony is you can ride up and down past the local houses that complain about noise all day long with your road legal can fitted, that won't pass the race track noise limit.
