One of the best days going.
Let's hope the rain stops long enough for you to enjoy it.

Re: New bike day
Cheers guys. Just got back in the sunshine but have to pop out for work for a few hours. Was a tough decision but the ride back just confirmed it was the right one.
Gone for the 1200S this time with the semi active suspenders...and far more importantly Brembo M50 calipers.
More info later.

Re: New bike day
Its a 1200S Touring - includes full panniers and topbox, heated grips, centre stand and Touratech touring seat when it turns up. I was offered an exceptionally good deal ( not paid for any of the extras mentioned) and a great trade in for my 2013 Multi. My previous bike was due the big belts service at 15,000 miles and a new chain and sprockets so was looking at a nearly £1k for that lot so changing now made sense.
As i have posted on here before, i have tried a number of bikes of the past few months to help me make up my mind and i was sorely tested by a Panigale after the track event i went to but i just could not see me taking a new Panigale on track in case i trashed it, and the track is where it performs at its very best. Also i would have wanted to keep the Multi as that bike was so very good at doing many things and the Euro trips of the last few years have been my favourite times ever on a bike. Had i kept it though it would have had to be for another three years by which time it would have 30k miles on it and probably not worth a lot.
P/exing the Multi may allow me to spend some more on the 748 as that 853 engine is still for sale and i could turn that into a track/roadbike special that way. Just add a slipper clutch and that bike would need for absolutely nothing and it rides so well.
Rode the new Multi back on some dry roads and it steers much better than my previous bike and the DVT engine is a peach. They seem to have done a lot of work on the mapping since last summer as it appears to be a very different engine now. Lots of smooth low down pull and then that airbox rasp at 6000rpm, just like the Panigale.
So i am certain i have made the right decision for me now.
I'm going to do a bit of fact finding on the 853 engine and then decide whether to go down that route. If i don't i might look at selling that and getting a 1098 or early Panigale to replace it and use on track and road.

Re: New bike day
After reading that I'm hoping my work shares go up so when they vest in September I have enough for a new multi instead of a second hand one!Blade wrote:Duke after reading that I want a new Multi
Enjoy the new best mate.
Just out of interest, how did you find the semi active Sachs compared to the Ohlins? The second hand ones I've been looking at are a year either side of the change. The one I hired had Ohlins and I was more than happy with that, so be interested on what you think about the semi active. I've heard the anti dive is very noticeable.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Re: New bike day
That does sound good. I should have asked to have a go on your old one - nice bike and perfect for trips. Bet the anti dive into corners makes a big difference. Does it have the colour dash too?

Re: New bike day
Yep colour dash too. Didn't really get much chance to try it earlier but the brakes are very strong and I didn't notice the dive.
The dealer put TC on full before I left as it was hammering down when I left but by the time I got home it was dry. It's filthy dirty now. Hoping it might be dry tomorrow evening.

Re: New bike day
You going to cover it in ACF50?
How well do the new Ducatis cope with British weather?

Re: New bike day
They seem no better or worse than most other makes. I'm not really a winter rider anymore so doubt I will put ACF50 on it. That said it was pissing down this morning and I really enjoyed the last ride on my previous Multi. As long as the bike has decent tyres and I keep warm and dry , there is still fun to be had in the rain.
