3 attempts made to take me out this morning. The best was a large round about before the M42. Woman pulled out, didn't even see me until I had to dart on the inside of her car between her and the island. Stupid cow. (punch)

The other two were lane switchers.

Must be a Monday morning thing.

Last night relubed the chain. First time using Muc Off Extreme or endurance lube (can't remember which one) but I was shocked it smelt really nice and it came out like glue, when I span the wheel it cobwebbed up, clearly I used too much for what I'm used too (halfords chain wax usually) but it says it should last longer and for all weather so I'll have to see.

Fwiw I've always found that the better chain lubes tend to do that Rossgo. If I'm lubing a chain with spray I clean it 1st & chack for any tight spots, Then spray one good coat onto the inside of the chain at the point where it meets the rear sprocket whilst rotating the wheel slowly. Then I leave the bike, ideally for a few days, before I use it.
That approach seems to vastly reduce the fling IMHO.

I take a very similar approach:
If it is dry and relatively dust-free then I will just reapply lube (when required) when I get back after a ride. The chain is warm therefore slightly expanded so as it cools the lube becomes trapped.
If it is wet or dirty then I will clean the chain, tension it, re-lube it. If I'm about to go on a ride I get a piece of cardboard, put the bike in 4th gear to get the wheel spinning and rub the cardboard against the outside of the chain to get off any excess lube from the surface - I get very limited fling this way

I use Wurth Dry chain lube and get excellent mileage from chains and never get an fling off even if I lube just before a ride.

Full sort out of the RC8 yesterday, full brake bleed, chain scrub and tension and a good check over, followed by a full tank of fresh fuel and the long way home :D She's still silly fast :P

Cheers StMarks. I have not used a decent lube for quite some time like I have mentioned but it oozes with quality! I will definitely wait a few days. Did it yesterday and I need an MOT so guessing it won't be used until Saturday anyway! I generally clean the chain as well before lubing however fully cleaned the bike and the chain only a couple of weekends ago and I managed to piss the neighbour off while I was doing it so I best wait a few weeks more before redoing it haha!!

From all the good reports I read, I really should try that stuff Blade. My current can is about empty iirc, so I think I'll invest in a can of Wurth next time I see it on offer.

I use the S DOC100 Dry Lube and it's really good. You don't need to use much and it lasts ages.

I'm coming to the end of a tin of Wurth dry lube and have a tin of the SDoc stuff as a freebie when I bought some of the cleaner. I like the Wurth stuff but I've heard good things about the SDoc too.

It's very good stuff StMarks. I'm not shy when I spray it on and still never had any fling off. Lube the chain every 500 miles and chain wear is virtually non existent.

Happily recommend it buddy (y)

I've commuted on my bike for the last two days (car's broken again) and I hate it.

Car's don't move out of the fast lane for you AT ALL. I could overtake 4 cars or more in the space that they have to pull in and back out again.

How do you guys do it?!

At one point I 'overtook' 6 cars by using the first lane... If people drove correctly that just shouldn't happen!!

It isn't even like I drive in rush hour, this is at 6.30 in the morning for crying out loud
