There's not a credible party between them IMO. I think Jeremy Corbin is probably the person most right to lead the country but I haven't taken the time to look at his policies in any detail.

Definite no to the Tories, UKIP, Green, Lib dems... basically leaves Labour which isn't exactly reason to vote for them

Fwiw I can see that happening, rule by social media. It may even happen sooner than we think.
The main trouble is that "most people" are easily (mis)lead, and also do not stop to look at the larger implications.
Ironically it could be argued that state run Communism (like China) can be better.
But I guess that depends on how you gauge "better" .?????
I agree with you that the majority of people are easily led , but then again most people will act in their own self interest and what is good for the masses will therefore prevail , hopefully.
Communism/socialism has never been given the chance to develop by the free market capitalist majority of the world it has been hampered at every turn , it has a lot to be proud of imo, free schooling , free healthcare , excellent public transit systems , Russia went from the most backward country in Europe in the 1930's to the second largest industrial power and one of the two remaining superpowers by the 1950's , no other country has even come close to that kind of development on that timescale .

But that all collapsed 20 years ago....Russia was never anywhere near the threat the US made it out to be. Like China, it had a huge army, but no way in which to project that power aside from years of border skirmishes with the PRC...the one carrier they had was an utter failure, the Fulda Gap was amply protected by NATO, and the missile silos were mostly in a non-operational state. They were all smoke & mirrors.....mainly smoke.

Russia has the numbers, which is why the West needed nukes. NATO knew mainland West Europe would be swamped so they designed short range nuclear shells to be used on German soil.

The main thing Russia lacked was access to materials to make the technology to keep up.

Cuba wasn't rich but had excellent schooling and healthcare. It also had very little crime and very low drug use.

Wow....talk about sore losers!!

If there's one thing I've learned from "The Independent" links that get posted, is that it's anything but independent.
Should be called "The Co-Dependent" or "The Drug-Dependent".

To be honest I don't think any of them are any good, labour in my opinion are good at getting people in debt and starting wars, Tories try to sort out the debt but do look after the rich, lib dems...wel don't know enough about them but at last elections a lot of my uni friends were voting for them (not following them they had no life experience whatsoever at that point in time and thought money just got paid into their bank without having to lift a finger and also thought they would be getting into jobs that were going to pay them 100k plus etc haha) UKIP speaks for the commoner who have concerns about the future of our country but get followed by racists and have a bad rep.

You will never win in any of these we all love a moan. It's almost pointless us even doing anything but we do because we want our voices heard...let's face it any laws or legislations get made by old gits in an old building and if they decide it's not worth their time they they don't even turn up but we need them to keep an order to our country and have a say in the world.

You guys should vote for me I'd sort the country out hahaha.

Rossgo is simply putting it as he sees it. We all have differing opinions, but surely it does no one any good to get angry about others having opinions to those we hold.?

Fwiw I prefer to learn from others viewpoints. Even if my opion remains that they are wrong, it usually gives me a better insight to the basis of their thinking.

I didn't mean to make anyone angry and I feel sorry for doing so, that's never my intention, in fact really don't like any sort of confrontation, I am purely putting my view point, which in some people's eyes won't be right in others I may be right!!

Not directed specifically at you Ross, more that you've just perfectly described current public opinion. It's wrong and it winds me up

Interesting to see Sadiq Khan got elected as Mayor for London, Boris was a big character and seemed to lampoon his way through office. It'll be interesting to see how he does and even more interesting to see how the Government handles the Heathrow expansion (that Londoners don't want - but business does) given that the decision has been postponed for years now to allow one agenda or another to be worked on.

Rossgo - thats a fair summing up of how a lot people see things right now, disillusionment with politics is at an all time high I think, and if a person or party found a way to appeal to both old and young and rich and poor they'd be on to a winner. Problem is, most of those groups want the opposite to the others.

Fwiw, I genuinely believe that had we had the other Milliband brother (David) as the leader of the Labour Party instead of Ed, we'd have a Labour Government right now.

Absolutely fine matey, I know I basically gave a very crude view and do agree it is what a lot of people think, like I say to some it's right to others it's wrong and to some they have no idea of any of them and don't vote at all haha!! It's good to get passion pumping sometimes anyway, nice to see our country does matter to people!

It is nice to see that people are looking into what's best for London, we have had some very good mayors for London in the recent years this guy has a lot to live up to, hope he's got a sense of humor like Boris!!

Yes agreed, but I don't think we will ever find the prefect party, and if we do someone somewhere will kill the rep of it. Problem .is they don't help themselves it really doesn't help when newspapers and the news report that hardly any MP turn up when having discussions on certain aspects, but this is what people are like, if it doesn't affect them they won't care and that is what people see.

However we are so so so so so lucky we live in a country that have the basics to live, we have food and shelters for the homeless, we have proper road networks for all to use, we have the NHS, we have minimum and living wages we literally have all of this running right now so I'm not complaining about our current government we haven't got a civil war, we aren't having to pay thousands of pounds for medical care and we don't see our homes being blown up by the air force eg the refugee camp that was bombed by the airforce recently. We have it made for us here when you look at it on a whole

Your entitled to your opinion fella - we all are and I think your right.

I like to think I'm well travelled and people need to put the UK into perspective. It may have its issues, like many countries do - but the more i see other countries, the more I think the UK is an amazing place compared to many and its a lucky place to live if your down on your luck. You have so much choice as an individual compared to many in the world.

If the UK was to improve something, for me its the pressure cooker existence of the place these days where its harder to work and harder to achieve than it has been, where people have to work longer and harder than they used to - missing out on life and family time. So many people work so very hard and are so very stressed in the UK there days. There needs to be a better balance.

Well yeah....but people also live longer too...and that's totally apolitical, it's due to numerous factors. It's almost guaranteed that once you retire you're going to live a more sedentary lifestyle, and that in turn will lead to a steady decline in overall health.

I think the UK is amazing too....I'm planning a comeback tour.

Beautifully beautifully put C00kie. Me and my partner love our travelling also and it has really put it into perspective. I totally agree with the high pressure comment 100% however that won't change now it is almost our stitching in our genetic make up, if we stop we fall over haha!!

Edit: I wish I could like your comment more!! Haha
