2 hours in the freezing rain and at one point horizontal sleet! Not by choice, the Disco is playing up and we can't fit the whole family in the Audi.

And to make it worse some fectard had spilt diesel from Leek to Stone. 16 bum squeaking miles of it!

Thought about washing it and adjusting the chain, saw the rain, went back inside.

Left home with the sun out and clear blue skies. Arrived at work under dark skies, wind and freezing cold rain.

Definitely getting quicker and getting a lot more feed back from the bike, especially in the slower corners.

I arrived at the bottom of Itchy's Leap at about 120, at least 30mph quicker than last time. Fortunately this time had the good sense to slam them on.

This bike just gets better and better.
Arrived at the bottom of Itchy's leap at 120......... (whew)

Where were you thinking of landing Staffordshire (giggle)

To be fair the bottom of Itchy's Leap is actually Staffordshire.

Collected my bike this morning and all my gear from the Spain trip, started to strip the bike down already, rad off, now to shove all the dirty kit in the wash and unpack all the gear, while watching a good old classic, Smokey and the Bandit lol... love it.

Well i got this done today, I've never changed a chain before, I've always taken it somewhere.

What a ball ache putting the new chain together - those fiddly o rings wouldn't stay still while i lined up the tool. Its done now, but god i need a drink!

Fettling with chain tension and final bleeding tomorrow, then I'm off for a few hours to bed in the brakes, tyres and chain :D

Bit late now, but fwiw I usually glue them into place with a drop of chain lube. ;)

If it's your first one, did you make a note of the width of an assembled link, so that you pressed your side plate on "just enough" ,? -Rather than the frequent "too tight" first time attempt.?

Chain lube helped, but the plate kept falling off. i needed 5 hands :( In the end i put some thin tape around the middle between the rivets. Plus a lot of swearing :D

Yep - checked the plate was on enough to be the same width (2 goes to get it right). The rivets were not too bad - i just hope they are right - they should be as i couldn't tighten them any more physically and the links move with the same movement as the other 'proper' ones.

Still a PITA. :^

Cookie most manufacturers specify a diameter the rivet should spread too. If you can't source that info check the width is the same and the link is not tight and you should be fine. Knowing you mate I'm sure you've done a top job (y)

This morning I have the bike a really good deep clean, all muck off it from the Skeggy trip, cleaned the chain and ACF50'd everything! Also changed my original (10 year old) number plate that was cracked and had 6, yes 6, holes in it with a brand spanking new one, it's surprising how a little change can make you fall in love with it all over again!!
