The Big Short

True film about the prediction of the collapse of the American housing market.

I'm surprised someone has had the balls to make this film, good on them.

One day the truth will out about the whole fiasco but there is no doubt that the vast majority will be paying for it for more than one generation.

I watched this film last night.

People need to see this to realise the massive scale of the fraud carried out by the banks.

3 trillion dollars was lost. Millions lost their homes. Millions lost their jobs. 1 person was charged and sent to jail. Pensions and savings disappeared.

Now the banks are doing the same things again.

Will try and get to watch this. Not quite so sure on the banks doing the same now though.

We are finding clients are having big problems getting mortgages these days.

The checks and third party references the lenders require are getting ridiculous and its fair to say that under current rules a lot of people will not be having a new mortgage ever again.

We have gone from one extreme to the other.

Hmmmmm.....on the fence about it all.....I know I paid $500K for a 1000sq.ft house....WAAY more than it was truly worth....but no one forced me to buy it AND rent prices were doing through the roof so it made sense to buy....cheaper than renting at that time...so what else would be a smarter option.....I later sold and made a decent profit.....not big money, but enough that I was happy with the outcome.
I don't know the answer.....like I say, no one forced me to buy and I'm usually pretty smart with money. Most people aren't, but they're all too quick to point the finger when they find out that life is not all champagne & blowjobs.
