I'm wanting to take the plunge and start trying to change my own chain and sprockets.. Despite experience of splitting bicycle chains in my youth it doesn't quite feel the same lol...

Researching chain splitters/ riveter so and manual wheel balances

I have tried a few chain splinters and everyone I have tried is a pain to use and generally fails. The best way I have found is use an angle girnder it sounds crude but it's not just take the head off. Just cover the bike with a sheet. I bought the afam riviter with the chain it looks basic so see how it goes . Passed methods a block of steal behind the link and use a hammer to peen the rivit over.

I've tried a few admittedly cheap ones but always revert back to bolt croppers and two hammers to rivet. You just need to be careful not to over do it with the hammers.

Fitted the Corse rearsets to the 748.

Solid footrests feel far better on a sportsbike, even just in the garage pretending to ride

Had to order some new rose joints for the gear rod linkages so its not complete yet.

I guess I shouldn't be so narrow minded.: I've been wanting to fit some rearsets to my 675 ever since I got it (std ones are a little too far forwards) , however what has always put me off is that the OEM ones fold & I have always thought that was better.? (like folding hand levers).
On reflection, when I do wipe out the folding levers don't probably help much, as the hangers often sheer anyway.
If fixed footrests give better feel, I guess that would explain why all the aftermarket ones are fixed.?

That is something I have thought about too, St Marks. But when I fell off on the 748 on the road it still bent the footrest fixing points even with folding footrests.

My thinking is its more likely to bend the footrest hangers on the frame than the frame itself.

Sadly I've crashed and damaged folding and solid footrests as well as breaking levers and lever perches, however the parts for my solid rearsets were considerably cheaper than Triumph wanted for new oem parts, so I continued with the rearsets, I didn't bend the frame mounting points at any point though.
The levers were a different matter, I found that crashing with the folding (vertical & horizontal) levers you got scratches on the ball end (Carry On Joke) but the levers were undamaged. I might point out though, that I used the air tube protector that stops the handlebars from moving too far, so the perch wasn't in contact with the ground at any point, but the clip-on tube was a frequent casualty and I always carried a spare.

I also learned that no amount of prep or folding bits would stop things getting busted in the wrong accident, you can only try and avoid damage - it'll still happen somewhere. Hth, DG

I had fitted new Vortex rearsets to the ZX before my last off and to be honest it prevented a lot of damage as it didn't fold and took a lot of the grinding during the slide. It was $30 to replace. But funny enough as my bar closed to the ground went full lock the folding lever got trapped and couldn't fold up and ground away the ball end completely.

Went out with dad today to Loomies. Had a fab ride even tool him down 2 new roads then it started to rain then hail!! It was so heavy started bouncing off my screen onto my lid! We pulled over and let the worst of the Hail stop. Great ride today I don't know what I would do if I couldn't ride!

Dropped the multi off at the dealers for ANOTHER !! fuel sensor fault !
It was snowing very lightly when I took it out of the garage, luckily the dealers is only about 2 miles from my house.

I booked it 2 weeks ago before my warranty ran out ( march 1st ), its gone to riders at Brislington as it very close to me.

Are you going to sell it if it's an issue which keeps happening? There's still a warranty on the work they do to your bike though isn't there?!?!
