Spring is on its way...

As of this morning at 0455. I took the dog out for a walk and I realised that the sky was a dark blue and I saw the stars out, my touch wasn't so bright because it was lighter than normal and I noticed that I wasn't all that cold!

I put my bike in for a major service including new plugs and valve clearances around 3 weeks ago (not bothered with how long it takes its just as and when he gets a time slot to do the work) but through these 3 weeks I am starting to really miss her and want to go out for a ride so bad.

Which brings me onto a question...

The guys who only ride through spring/ summer do you tend to miss riding when the winter is here or does the weather really dictate how you feel about going out on 2 wheels?

This isn't a dig or anything I know that we have varied riders here so just want to know how long people take to start missing being out on your bikes and if sometimes even when it's cold out do you ever just want to swing one leg over and take her out for a blast?!

What I find is that even off the road for a week or so for what ever reason, I can tell the difference. For those who don't ride for months, it must make you feel very rusty coming back to it.

As for the mornings, I was walking my dogs on Cannock Chase at 6am this morning, and I could actually see ok without the headlamp on.

However when I get home and walk them at about 7pm, it is still pitch black. I had some eyes looking at me from in the forest reflecting the torch loght last night. No idea what animal it was as the light didn't penetrate the woods enough. Only got the 2 yellow spooky eyes watching me,

I haven't really missed it since I moved in October.
The weather has just killed the desire for me.

I will be rusty when I get back on it, but last week's bimble from the mother in law's showed me that I wasn't too wobbly. It's just going to be a matter of getting back into it gradually, and not just jumping into a Peak District ride with Monty or a filtering session with Kwacky!

Yes I miss riding mine but I've done years and years of commuting on two wheels through the winter and can't be bothered with the wet and cold anymore.ive basically gone soft in my old age

Yeah I miss riding. My leathers are perforated and my textiles are shit though. I don't mind riding if the weather's a bit iffy but I do seem to do it less and less. Plus I HATE cleaning of any kind. My bike still has its noise pass test stickers on from Oulton Park months ago and I sold it cheap so I don't have to clean it now

I don't have to stay off the bike in winter because the weather is pretty mild here, I just have enforced breaks because it takes me much longer to fix them than it does to crash them

I've replaced the damaged hardware so just have to patch the fairing up. Be a couple of days work if I could get to it. Seems like I may be back in the house with in the next month so it'll be easier to get work done on the bikes.

Well I spoke too soon...went out with the dog and it was freezing! The cars had to get their windows scraped the morning!!

D6 I understand that feeling. I had a fox growl and follow me and my dog last year it put my dog off walking around the field in the mornings and she prefers just to go to the end of the road for her morning walk!

My bikes been off the road for a few weeks thanks to a car driver nudging her from behind... all rebuilt now except now my rear huggger is now touching the tyre... and I cannot get the left footpeg to catch on (you know... getting the thread started)... so Im stuck with driving and scratching my head until I can sort this

I can't take being off the bike much longer!!!!!

Lovely lunch time walk at work today.. the sun was hot on my back.

One guy was pretty annoyed at the weather in all honesty as his mate is at Oulton Park today. He said, "I honestly don't think I've done a trackday with weather this good - not even in August!!"
