Put the cover back on the zx6r. I'm hoping it blew off rather than someone took it off to look at the bike. The zx6r is pinned between the hedge and the SX so it seems strange for someone to go to the trouble to remove it and not the SX . I don't think I buckled the cover down. The wind has been pulling on the SX cover which is much larger. I'll have to get a chain or a large disc lock and use the slots like I do on the SX to keep the cover in place.

Kwacky I hate when that happens. I remember one time I got home checked the bike and the cover was up in a tree! Hope your new one fixes any problems of it blowing off

What about some cam straps ?

Cheap and ideal for securing the covers from the wind. And really quick and simple to use.

This is the kind of thing I mean.

For what it's worth I think it will have blown away rather than someone snooping. The winds were high last night and we had to go and secure the wheelie bin as was left out for collection and exposed.

That's a good idea. I'll take a look.

I've got a disc lock on the front holding the cover on the SX and chain going round the back so that's kept the SX cover in place. The front clips have broken off so the cover can go back to R&G.

The cover on the zx6r is elasticated around the bottom and a snug fit so I've not bothered securing it down in the past.

Cheers for the link. I'll invest in a couple of those seeing as they're a good price.

I've not checked the bike covers for a few days so I guess the front could have worked it's way up over front wheel. Once the wind caught it it would have acted like a sail. I've seen the SX cover filling up with the wind for the past few nights.

You can get them cheap as chips on ebay and handy for lots of little securing jobs and very useful to have handy around the house.

I noticed you said the covers flapping had worn the paint of the bar ends which is a common issue if covers are allowed to flap. These cam straps could help with that issue too.

Glad the link is helpful.

This new Oxford cover is a stretch one. The RnG one is too large but the next size down is too small for the SX.

The RnG on the zx6r is spot on.

Oxford Protex stretch cover is on the bike. It's got a strap underneath in the centre so I've bought a disc lock for the front wheel to keep it in place.

I've got a couple of spare batteries so I'm charging them up to swap them over during Christmas.

Decided to bring it home for Christmas as I'm of until the new year now. Hopefully will get out for a ride or two before it gets taken back to the brother in laws garage.

Very unusually, it put up a fight at being started. First time I've tried to start it for at least three months. It did fire up first time (just) but kicked in with an engine warning light. Put it on a battery charger for half an hour and it fired up good as gold.

It's now tucked up under a cover on the patio with the charger on again.

Went out for a 60mile round trip with my observer before my cross check on Tuesday. Went really well, got caught out in a few showers but nothing major. Was actually good to go out in the greasy and wet conditions just to see how I adjust to riding in them. Had a couple of slippy moments, one was just after filling up, think I may of had some oil left in the tyre after driving through BP!

Today went out for a 70mile trip finding the meet place for the cross check tomorrow. It's going to take an hour to get to the meet place so it should give me a nice little warm up ride o get into the swing of things.
Wish me luck!

Fitted the Chinese/track fairings on the 999 then as it is so mild went to to Fowlers for an egg & bacon sarnie (y) to make sure nothing came loose etc, it was all good.. Then when I got back as it was still so nice had a bimble over to WSM on the multi on the whole a very enjoyable day.
