I do wish I had a less 'all out' bike for the road, I get zero enjoyment out of my bike at low speeds - something like a Naked 1000 V-twin would be perfect

In my experience naked bikes only slow down your top speed.

Not sure which part you're referring too? While I'm getting better with age at behaving, I do have an addictive streak that as soon as I start to get a little spirited I find it hard to dial back again unless I do something that gives me a heart stop. But the times I've jumped on a single or twin non sports bike I haven't felt the need as you know it's not going to handle it as well, so I tend to just enjoy the ride for what it is.

And it worked for me. Although the cold and greasy conditions with tractor muddy tracks also helped.
