Its only about being jolly and happy. Give it a try you might enjoy it ;)
There's a time limit on jolly and happy about christmas. When the shops put everything up on Nov 1st and my kids hassle and whinge at me endlessly about christmas crap everytime we go near the shops, my happy and jolly runs out well before christmas. Thank god I'm back offshore.

Anytime before Dec 1st should be illegal. 12 days of christmas is plenty.. so dec 14th is early enough for me.
kiwikrasher im with you on this one.

If I had my way they'd go up on Christmas Eve and down on New Year's Eve, none of this 12th night cobblers or decorations (cobweb/dust traps) throughout the whole of December, I compromise and allow Mrs Gee and Mini Gee to put everything up a week and a bit ahead of the day. Yes, I really am a miserable fecker too.

As do I Blade, and it's not the day of the reasonable lead up I have issue with, it's the blatant commercialisation and over zealous marketing of it all I have issue with.

Not knocking you either mate, if you genuinely manage to enjoy the two month lead up then hats off to you!!

I won't lie Christmas means only one thing to me, 10 days off work, it's the only time of year I get holiday where I don't have anything set in stone, nothing that I have to wake up for, I can just relax, take the dog out and have a good chill before going back to hell in the new year. Oh and eating whatever, oh and playing PS games, and watching films and popping out on bike.

............

But this year my missus is booking lots of time off when I'm off so guessing I won't be able to do much of that this year, whoopy!! Haha!!

To be fair I don start 2 months before or want to tbh but it doesn't bother me either. I like Christmas and always have. Some see it as just a single day I see it as a short season or holiday period. Each to there own and I can understand some may find it too much and dread the over commercialised side of things which has crept in. Sounds corny but I enjoy the traditional side of Xmas. Going to church, school plays, carol singing, Christmas markets, winter walks, eating too much, my hip flask full, and I genuinely enjoy giving presents probably more than receiving. The over commercialised side of it all I just ignore and regards the tree going up we don't have a fixed plan tbh probably about 1 or 2 weeks before, when ever the missus and kids decide basically.

This year we go to Lapland which I have wanted to do since I have had kids. We orignally booked 2 years ago but they cancelled on us last year at the last minute so we went to New York instead which was also a nice Christmas experience. We booked again for this December, 10 months ago now and we tell the kids this weekend and I can't wait.

Sounds very exciting Blade. Your kids will love that. New York at Christmas time. Bloody hell that must of cost a few quid! Me and my missus want to do that but she's quite family oriented and therefore means she goes to her nans for Christmas day with the whole family.

Cheers Rossgo. NYC at Christmas is a good gig and definitely worth doing if you get the chance. I more excited about lapland though. We have 5 nights in log cabin and plenty of activities planned so should be a trip of a life time and I can't wait. Work hard play hard is my motto (y)

That sounds amazing. Like you've said it's been your dream since being a little kid so better late than never! At the end of the day life spins around so quickly. I was just writing a post about being off sick and I could of worn I had a chest infection a couple of years ago but actually it's prob more like 3-4 years ago...it's gone so quickly. You have to seize the moment and I'm.the same I book main holidays way in advance because I know if you don't you won't be able to do it.
Really enjoy it and take some pics for us here [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

Finished my Christmas shopping today. My Mrs was adamant that she doesn't want us to exchange gifts this year. If she's secretly hoping for a present she's going to be disappointed

But you don't get a moments peace.

Not sure what we're doing this year. First year without my father in law. Normally we allow people round until midday then I kick everyone out so I have the afternoon with my family. I suspect we will have my mother in law this year, if she's well enough.

We're having a quiet one this year, staying at home and just a few relatives (4 max) coming round for dinner. This year I'm going to do all the cooking on Christmas Eve with the help of a bottle of Gin so I can actually enjoy Christmas day with the kids (toys).
