Blipbox - Autoblipper/QS

Great kit but for £800 I'll continue using my wrist

Tbh after riding bikes and manually blipping on downshifts for as long as I can remember I think I may find the switch yo not blipping difficult to make.

I'm in two minds about all of this technology we're seeing on bikes. I can understand the reasons for it but I wonder if too many people are simply leaning on the safety features and creating a false sense of security.

I love the idea of an auto blipper! 90% of the time I'd agree with Blade. I enjoy blipping the throttle on downshifts but when pressing on, in the big brakes moments I can't blip the throttle properly. I'd like an auto blipper for those moments! I'd assume if you blipped the throttle as well you would override it so most of the time you're still in control? Sort of like traction control in that it only activates when needed?

Not sure Andy. I thought it was active the whole time. Good question about being able to overide, one for the manufacturer I think.

If you blip the throttle as well you would be preventing it doing what it should. The idea is they cut the power in milliseconds which a human is not capable of. If it were possible to better the system through practice then race teams would not bother with them and MotoGP teams would not spend millions developing seamless gearboxes.

Surely it's the quickshifter that cuts power. The blipper kind of does the opposite revving the engine so it's ready for the lower gear?

I always have a QS fitted, but after test riding the 1299 I would love an auto blipper, but it would have to be affordable

Im terrible at blipping. I just blip to make a noise. I've blipped before then released the clutch when the revs were still high and surged forwards instead of slowing. Hahaha. **** it. I just slam the brakes on. Then repeatedly stamp down to the gear i want haslam style.

Best excuse I've heard to get a 1299 D6. You clearly need one on safety grounds.

Yes it was a bit of a shock at first though going from the ZX6r with slipper clutch to the S3. Bounce weave skip on the down shift. I love it.

It's progress and although there is a place for analogue kit in this world we will always be moving forward with performance and safety on manufacturers flagship models and that's a good thing imo, but each to there own.

For those of you that have seen any footage of me at Donington, I did not blip the throttle once when I was there. Instead, I was heavy on the brakes and changing down a gear and dumping the clutch. The slipper clutch sorts it all out for you.

You can only do this on the track though as it is not smooth to do this on the road.

I haven't ridden a bike with an autoblipper to know the real benefits of it but from my current experience I don't feel the need to get one.

Also, this isn't a new technology - it has been around for years as one of the World Supersport (James Towesland??) had an autoblipper on his R6 and it apparently was like riding a Moto2 bike with how it was set up.

Makes it easier and far smoother changing down coming into a corner. Unsettles the bike far less as the change down is almost seamless and useful as a method to slow the bike down a little.

Two very different things,one stops your arse squirelling about when blatting into a corner the other is for people who cant be bothered to use a clutch when changing down

Slipper clutch on the ZX6R works really well.

But I need to remember that the Z1000SX hasn't got one

You don't need to blip the throttle with a slipper clutch but only if you are very hard braking. Anything less than full effort on the brakes and it feels horrendous.

The slipper clutch on the ZX6R is okay, it doesn't slow the rotation enough though and I need to start using the rear brake as it can push you wide. Map-able engine braking would be perfect !!!
