Does anyone know what the model numbers are for the 2016 zx10r? That will indicate if Kawasaki see it as a different model or just an upgrade.

Good shout. Something I noted is if we change bikes it should be easy to swap over the bling.

I'm hoping the semi active ohlins shock will still work in conjunction with the ohlins and oem ecu's.

i wonder what the se version has over the base model ? I like the 5 traction control and power options they seem sensible and clear to me

Is that a completely new ECU in the 2016 bike? Plus it's got new ECU features.

I have no idea how the shock and the ECU talk to each other or if the new electronic aids on the 2016 model will have any impact on the way in which a semi-active shock would react and interplay with the bike's management system.

Would be a backwards step to not allow the semi active suspension upgrade on the 2016.

There is an Ohlins ECU which talks to the kawasaki ECU and this was available as a retro fit to 2011/2012 bikes (Ohlins ECU standard from 2013 onwards) so Im really hoping it will still work.

Has an UK prices been confirmed Perks ?

I could only find US prices and maybe the SE is a US model only. Either way at $299 premium for the SE model I m not expecting a lot TBH.

Maybe they can update the software on the ECU on the shock so it talks to the new ECU on the zx10r?

Good shout Kwacky. If needed it would probably be no more that a software update as you say.

TBH as I have semi active suspension on my bike and I m happy with the current model front forks, brakes, TC and power modes the only think I feel my 2013 bike is missing is a quickshifter and as I'm in the process of getting one of those hopefully, there is no real reason for me to upgrade.

Dont get me wrong I would love the new Showa forks and Brembo M50 calipers but being realistic the current Showa BPF forks and Tokico Calipers are enough for my ability although that doesn't stop me wanting the latest and greatest (lol)

TBH Perks reading the below I don't think me personally would benefit from modes one and two and TBH I m more than happy with the current TC and find TC mode 2 ideal for dry fast road riding.

The Sport-Kawasaki TRaction Control (S-KTRC) system now has five modes of operation instead of three as with the previous ZX-10R. Modes One and Two are designed for racing, while Mode Three is for a “dry circuit with high-grip tires,” while Mode Four is for “dry canyon roads or commuting,” and Mode Five is intended for wet circuit or street use. The Keihin 47mm throttle bodies are now controlled solely by an electronic ride-by-wire throttle system, so power control is likely handled by both throttle plate movement and ignition curve changes.

You've spent a lot of time and money on that bike, I can't see any reason why you would want to be in a rush to swap it for another.

I remember when the Daytona 675 came out. I took one for a test ride. The dealer was amazed I didn't want one. When I told him I had spent time and money getting my 600 just the way I wanted it, the 675 didn't do enough for me to want to change it.

Some people want stuff just because it's the latest thing.

Your 100% right Kwacky.

It's took 6 months for me to get used to the zx10r and get it how I want it abd there is still 24 months factory warranty remaining so no rush to change for at least another year.

I may try and get a test ride though.

It does look better in that photo.

I still don't like the graphics though.

Flat black and mean green options have to be available, surely?

Yes agree graphics are a bit ott but a solid black or green / black combo without the graphics would look good.

which bit? The discs, the brembos or the showa bling?

It's good to see the petal discs have gone. I never was a fan.

Engine and frame dimensions are identical on both bikes. New bike has different gearbox ratios and suspension specs and a higher rear ride height. I think Blade is right in that it's more a substantial update than a brand new bike.
