Right, finally made up my mind.

I've treated myself to an Alpinestar Gore Tex Tech ST jacket

I've also picked some Rukka trousers - http://www.rukka.com/motorsport/product ... uct/basti2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which appear to be the usual high quality kit from Rukka.

None of it is cheap but I ride all year so I'm sure I'll get my money from them.

The spec looks impressive and that jacket gets good reviews. I know their gear generally is good quality so fingers crossed it lives up to the billing.

Nice jacket for an all year item. Not the usual "adventurer" look that they all normally have. Never understood why all weather textile stuff is normally in adventure style and not some more sporty options.

Yeha, that put me off a few jackets. Loads of beige, pockets all over the place and dozens of zips.

Agree about the jackets that's how I ended up with mine. I needed a waterproof jacket without spending over the odds and I managed to pick up a quiet stylish looking one which actually is waterproof (bar the pockets really) all for 70 quid lol!
Like the Alpinestars jacket you getting looks a dam sight better than the adventure stuff!!

I think a lot of the stuff is for the GS crowd who like to dress for the Paris Dakar each time they go to the shops.

Tbh Kwacky I've recently purchased a new from M&P the make is Cube only paid £40 with postage, removable inner quilted lining, full armour in them and I've used them in a few showers including today and I was bone dry, admittedly that's on a 15 minute commute at top speeds of 50mph but for the price I'm very happy.

I get wettest on the motorway. You end up with 6 lanes of spray kicking up water in all directions. When your commute takes an hour the water normally finds a way through. That'll be the acid test.

I've tried the trousers and the jacket on. I'm impressed with the fit and the quality of both. That Rukka stuff is worth every penny.

It'll be good to get a report after you've hammered it through the winter and it's got covered in all the grot that British winter roads can offer. I suppose that'll be the acid test as to whether it's really worth the money or if it's expensive posey kit for Beemer riders that's not intended for real world conditions.

It looks dry for this week and I'm in Cambridge next week so you'll have to wait for a water proofing report.

The Rukka trousers are very warm though. I think I might wear them when the snow comes and the kids want a snowball fight.

I washed the trousers yesterday as they had started to let in water.

When I was taking the armour out I noticed that one of the knee armour pieces had snapped. I've emailed FC-Moto to see if the armour is covered by warranty. They're in the process of speaking to Rukka for me and will let me know what they say.

It's £40 for a replacement pair of knee pads so it's not a great loss but I would have expected them to last longer than just under a year. The other knee is pad is fine.

Glad your getting treated well Kwacky. I think Red is having some trouble with FC Moto (think it's them at least) at the moment. Hope Rukka sort you out quickly.

It looks like Red675 is using Motocard and it's the Dainese trousers that are playing him up.

I need to wait for rain to see if washing the Rukka trousers worked. They leak when they start to get dirty as the goretex gets clogged up.
