The further north you go less traffic, Stunning views, done in a car Up the east side when I went to Orkney, would love to do on the bike for sure.
But unless you van up to absorb the big boring miles, a couple of days along A roads to get there would be more interesting.

Timing would be key to ensure the weather was suitable or could be more like a boating trip than a road trip.
