I've heard rave reviews about the Avon 3D ultra supersport. I might put some on the zx6r next year and see what they're like.

No not yet Duke.

Hopefully Monday. Wheels need new bearings so sent the missus up the engineering retailers for some today. She's a good girl. I was too busy to go today had an appointment in Wales (rolf)

Will fit at weekend and then get it mot'd Monday morning and go for a blast in the afternoon weather permitting.

They have done well last couple of years in the pb tyre review.

Will the missus be fitting the bearings and tyres too? (giggle)

Picked it up from it's first MOT.

Despite not putting the baffles in the exhausts and not having a reflector on the back, it passed without a single advisory.

I suppose I should hope for nothing less on a 3 year old bike with less than 6000 miles on it!

Also rode home trying out the Howard Leight ear plugs.
My god, what a difference to those 2 quid a pair jobbies you get at any bike shop.
They block out so much more noise I thought the MOT guy had done something to my exhausts for a minute!

I seriously can't get over the difference.
I used to use the Moldex ones and thought they were great.
These are another league entirely, when I'm doing 60 there's barely a wind noise at all. On a naked bike!

Only when i get up to and over 3 figures does the noise start to become a little obtrusive, but it's still not bad.

And for the price, these are amazing!

They are brilliant, I lost one and didn't have a spare when I was at the NEC one year, so bought some of the cheapies from a stand, I rode home with them and my head was ringing afterwards, I was also a lot more tired than I usually am, they're worth the money imho.

Which type Itchy? We use the HL max and laser lite at work, and I use the max lite for sleeping in offshore. They are a great brand of earplug, I've used many different brands over the years and I wouldn't use anything else nowadays.

They are the laser lite ones.
I'm kicking myself for not trying them sooner. I bought 20 pairs for £2.55 back in July (so roughly 20 times cheaper than those Moldex ones), but I popped them in the shed when they arrived and every time I went out on the bike I forgot/couldn't be arsed to get them out of the shed so ended up using my fallback pair that look like a rubber Lego tree!

Never again!

Went out with the local IAM guys to a Hog Roast put on by the club. In all it was 140miles and lead excellently. No one got lost and its weird we weren't all that far apart even when we can quite comfortably say it was a spirited ride at times! Surprising how many old guys are in the IAM. I bumped into a few guys slightly younger but generally are still older than myself! These guys aren't about must do this, must do that. When they are shifting they are shifting!! I was the only 600 in the group all others were 1000s and no one really got away from me, well not in the twisties at least!

I was reflecting back to how I used to be and how I am now and it's surpising just how all of these things have have made my ride a lot more progressive and confident.

Great day out [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

Swapped the brake lines over on the SX.

Thanks Kawasaki for doing your best to make it as hard as possible to tighten the line bolt on the caliper.

Sorry to hear that, kingfixer. Hopefully its an easy fix.

I do remember the first few months of ownership of my 748 were not the easiest.

Older Ducatis really need a thorough service by someone who knows all their foibles before they become properly reliable.
