Thats what's go I g through my head, I don't fancy buying a brand new tyre when I want to try another one out. But I also don't want to buy a pair when I know there's still life in one of the tyres! I'm a tight git and only getting tighter with old age but safety is paramount, so in 2 minds at the moment. Thanks for your thoughts

Given the mileage I got from my front m7rr I reckon that alone would cover any savings you might make from keeping your current tyre.

I am getting 2 rears to every front tyre with these Metzlers. so another factor is whether you're going to be out of sync if you keep your current front tyre.

I get two rears to one front with my Michelin pilot power 3s but I mainly ride in summer. If I were you I'd swap both for M7rr's then eBay the Michelin or keep it for emergencies!

Thanks Kwacky. As I don't lay it up over winter they have to be good and I know you do all sorts of weather's so your the best to ask for the real talk about these! They are very high in my list if not the top to be honest just the price at the moment for these particular tyres as they are still new! I'm so bad at decisions!! Haha

I can only second this. I've been out on m7's in anything from freezing cold winter days (and yes there was ice about) to boiling hot track days. They don't seem to bothered with everything in between as well.

I'm just waiting until funds are better then I'm getting a new m7rr rear.

As for the original question. I've never mixed tyres, but I know people who have. I guess it's down to getting similar tyres and ensuring you will be comfortable with them. I recon a good percentage of perceived grip is in your head.

Cheers Nutz. Love these tyres reviews just gets better and better. We went out in Feb when it was icy earlier this year to Lucy's, guess you was on the M7RRs then...didn't seem to flinch around any bends at the Times I was able to keep up I mean! That's what I'm after.

Ifs its proper icy, no tyre will give good traction.

Personally I wouldn't mix and match tyres but each to their own.

Get the M7's for winter, store the michelins under the bed. That will satisfy your tight ass mentality ( I'm exactly the same btw) because you still have your tyres. If you're worn thru the m7 rear by next summer you will be in a good position to decide, by a new rear in Michelin and refit the front or just get a new m7 rear and flog off the Michelins.
The pain of paying for a full set will be long forgotten while you are still enjoying the benefits of good new rubber is changeable conditions.

Link is for a 120/190 but the advert in the mcn lists a 120/180 option for the same price.

That's a pair for less than the price of a rear and a tyre you know and like.
