Take the white parts off the red bike and chuck them in the bin

Take the red parts off the black bike and put them on the red bike.


Put carbon parts on the black bike to replace the red parts.

I like them i even like the miss matched lights but would like to ride that the and the rsv4 back to back.

2,000 miles on my rsv4 now and everything is good so far (touches wood).

Any bike can have problems, my S1000RR top yoke cracked when i was at snetterton which meant loose head bearings (!) and had 2 bolts vibrate loose the way to Germany.

Just goes to show any bike can have problems.

All joking aside Jon you have that bike a while now, how many miles do you think it may have done or is it classified information

Honestly, I have no idea. I tried to keep the mileage correct on the mot but the new regs and testers stopped that.

It had over 10k on it when I bought it 6+ years ago, and you know I get about a bit on it. It has to be over 40k now, if not heading on to 50k.

Read on RSVR and there are loads. I guess Duke was just unlucky with his, not then helped by bad dealer backup.

I do spend a fair bit on her to keep her in tip top form though.

Like anything maintenance is the key to reliability. The problem from what i here with Aprilla is great bikes, shit dealers. I agree I think Duke was unlucky

I for one like the design of the RR's it just feels like the Germans have designed it so everything has a purpose. Quite like the eyes too, makes it look different to anything else. Unsure about that colour scheme I like black and red but needs to be distributed correctly in my opinion!

They changed the spec of the engine bearings on 2008-on motors.

I tried contacting Aprilia Italy direct at one point and though they seemed to want to help, they had no idea what was going on. Had i not contacted the head of Piaggio UK direct, i suspect the bike would probably still be there even now. The supply of spares is still very poor for a modern company.

It is a huge shame as i might still have an Aprilia otherwise. The bikes they make are fantastic...when they are working.

Not a good experience for you Duke and the spares and back up problems are well documented but hopefully the cause of the failure was an isolated problems as I agree thy make some amazing bikes.
