I do agree...I just hate the younger drivers now I feel older haha!!

Some one will come up with a jammer or correction offset to change the data. No sooner has someone invented a fool proof system than someone has come up with a way round it.

I do agree that people will try to find a way round it but technology moves so fast that those wishing to make the best GPS logging system will be a step ahead all the time and once government monies get involved, then they can make military-level systems that are very hard to tamper with.

Our mobile phones already do a pretty good job of tracking our every step and movement as long as they are switched on.

That's the problem mine is turned off when riding or driving.

I can't see the latest military spec hardware being made publicly available either.

To be honest I'd hate someone or something having a watchful eye on me...I'd prob put them to sleep haha!!

Its easy enough to enforce trackers and prevent the vast majority from tampering with them by making them a condition of your insurance cover.

For some youngsters in cars it already is a condition of insurance cover.

Much as none of us like it but, the way technology is and how cheap and effective it is, it is sadly inevitable that all our driving/riding will be tracked sooner rather than later.

I hate government intervention and control in anything and everything we do.

It is so a part of my working day now that I really wish i was young enough and wealthy enough to go and do something else...rules, regulations, red tape, deadlines, monitoring, penalties, fines......we have far less freedom now than we did 20 years ago.

But techonolgy just makes it ever easier for them to control and track where we are and what we are doing.

If you own a relatively new BMW you're already being tracked each time you start the car.

German car manufacturers have fitted GPS 'blackbox' tracking systems for some years now.

I know Volvo cars also 'speak' to their HQ via GPS links and have done for about 6-7 years as they track their mileage all the time and advise the owner when it needs servicing.

The police have to request from the manufacturer any information they feel may be useful in an investigation.

I guess when they first started fitting them there were no such laws anyway as the technology didn't exist beforehand.

I can't find anything in the net apart from optional tracking devises that are subscription based.

The very latest Beemers are sold very much telling their owners what their car is recording and what info is being passed back to BMW.

They use it as a selling point. The car even rings emergency services by itself if you have a crash.

I have no doubt it is also collecting much more info. though.

I'm only going on what I've been told by expert accident investigators and a traffic copper.

But if you've got BMW inbuilt satnav it's easy for them to do.
