Re: PipeWerx
The outer edge of the hub is a perfect circle. By turning it you are tightening the chain and either reducing or increasing the ride height depending on whether the hub axle centre is on the way down or up. But as you turn it there are two points where the chain is perfectly tensioned.

Re: PipeWerx
Yes I thought that was how it works Duke and if I have understood correctly the bikes handling characteristics (ride height) are therefore influenced by how worn and therefore what position the chain is.

Re: PipeWerx
Yes it is.
But bear in mind that if the chain was perfectly adjusted with the hub axle centre at the top of its arc, it would also be perfectly tensioned at the bottom of its arc as the distance from the rear axle hub to the gearbox sprocket is almost the same in both cases.
The 916 range of bikes also has a separate ride height adjuster as well that works on the shock length.

I'm not doubting their quality. I think (if memory is right) they do lifetime guarantees.

Leo Vinci's parent company went bust about two years ago but I think they were bought up by another company.

Re: PipeWerx
I'm waiting to see what comes up for sale on the z1000sx site. I'm no rush to change them and in the meantime I can spend my money getting the zx6r ready for the summer.

Re: PipeWerx
Sounds like a plan.
What is left for the six ? I know you need the tank painting and new panels fitting is there anything else ?

Re: PipeWerx
Not much beyond that. I need to remove the old panels, give the bike a good clean and check over then put the new ones on.
Front tyre needs replacing.
If funds allow I might go for a decat and power commander but that's in the future.

Re: PipeWerx
Not much to get her on the road then, mainly just time fettlibg and some fresh oil etc...especially as you could just put the tank on now and get it painted when funds allow.

I'm happy using the dented tank. The spare tank is sitting in the living room, much to my wife's disgust and annoyance.
