Google Chrome

Post by D6 »

Google chrome used to be pretty good, but all of a sudden I am finding it wont work on certain pages that have videos.

Looks like I need to start using firefox again.

How come i can't play vidoes? For example BT sport no longer works on chrome.

Its an issue with shockwave i think. I get it now and again too and shockwave occasionally slows pages down to freezing.

Google have stopped supporting Microsoft Silverlight, which is good because it's shit. Hopefully it will force BT, Sky and many others to start using HTML5 like Netflix.

you have to switch shockwave off in chrome browser settings, and download/use shockwave as a standalone.

do these issues also transfer to mobile as I can't watch certain channels any more on my phone. TV catchup used to work but not any more, bbc used to work but not any more. I just use bt sport and sky now.

It's nothing to do with shockwave, google chrome no longer supports silverlight. Hopefully BT will see the light (pun intended) and use something better.

I read about this, there should be an option somewhere to turn flash and silver light support back on again. They aren't fully removing the support until September.

If I get a chance I'll have a look later and see if I can find out how to do it.

Not sure why but I haven't noticed any problems with video.

But strangely when opening the new look motogp website using chrome its tells me it will work better if I download chrome or another browser.

Surely it'll be the opposite, and like me people will simply stop using chrome, and it is google that loose?

Microsoft stopped developing Silverlight 2 years ago, it's dead and no one should be using it.
